The staff was great, both times I've stayed there. Flys were bothersome, but I was able to take care of that myself. (Doors must be open for some reason during the day.)It's very inexpensive, but I saw painting and improvements being made.

The bathtub was old and disgusting. I could not even shower. No coffee pot. One of my rooms had no hot water and the water was off in both rooms that morning but they did get it back on.

The Sands doesn't look like much as you pull in, but the rooms have updates and are clean. We have stayed several times, as it's one of the cheapest places in town and is a good value for travelers who don't mind funky/older places. We even like that the train tracks are right out back. When we hear the horn or feel the rumble, we walk out to see/feel the trains blowing through town. For coffee,tea, bevs, snacks and gas, there's a decent Love's literally across the street, and there's a nicer Pilot a half mile away.

Good motel for the price
It is a no frill motel but the bed was super comfortable, the room was clean, and the staff bent over backwards to help with a key problem.

The room was terribly dirty - the floors were filthy and dusty the end tables had sticky spots that were half wiped off, the bathroom faucet had spatters from the previous occupants, the shower had bits of previous bars of soap on the floor, and the water was unbearably hot, we weren't able to shower. The stained mattress was only covered with a flat sheet, that wasn't even tucked in, there was no mattress pad or fitted sheet. The room reeked of old cigarette smoke.

We arrived at 4:15 and room was not ready.cleaning lady saw us and attempted tofix things up for us . We asked if we could see the room which she showed us. It was in bad need of cleaning and a general remodel.we told her we would return after dinner but realized that there was nothing she could do that would make us feel comfortable staying there. We found another motel. Expedia should not be advertising this motel.
