Lake Retreat Rustic Fishing Cabin Near Mercedes Tannehill University of Alabama

This is a rustic fishing cabin on quaint and quiet Lake Retreat. The cabin truly is rustic. Built (we assume) by weekend warriors back in 1979, it became ours in May of 2018. Lake Retreat is part of the Lake View Property Owners Association. The owners, Chris and Nancy have paid the dues for the year, so the dock is available for fishing. The lake has Bass, Catfish, Blue Gill, and other Brim. Lake Retreat is a no-wake lake. The LPOA does not allow non-owner motorized boats on the lake.

A peaceful getaway right on the serene water of Lake Retreat! The dock also has two Adirondack chairs so you can sit and fish or enjoy the view! We provide pond fish food so you can feed the fish and an occasional turtle off the dock.

This cabin includes a smart TV in the living area and another smart TV in the Queen bed bedroom. Both have remotes. The kitchen features an electric range, microwave, and a refrigerator with ice maker. The cabin is great for relaxing after an Alabama football game.
Watercraft are not available.

Perfect getaway
It was a great birthday getaway I had a terrific time. Peace and quiet it was filled with all amenities of home. I had not had a chance to fish in years truly enjoyed and caught lots of fish. The host they were very accommodating and nice people. I plan on making this trip again real soon. If you like nature and fishing this is the place to be.

We can’t wait to come back! Excellent. Highly recommend.
The owners have really gone above and beyond with the full hummingbird feeders that brought many hummingbirds to keep us entertained. Everything was very clean and they really helped us out providing charcoal and other amenities that I forgot. There are lots of fish to catch. We probably enjoyed our time on the pier the most. 5 stars. Excellent. Thank you!

We had an amazing time. Was able to relax and the kids had a blast fishing from the dock and playing in the sand area. The cabin is so cozy with everything you need. We love the little worm farm box and put our worms we didn’t use in there for the next kids that want to dig for the worms. Will definitely come back. It was Perfect.

The best thing about property was the deck and back porch!..wouldn’t call it a lake, more a pond. Only 2-3 towels-2 washcloths and no sheets or pillowcases for 2nd bedroom. I think someone didn’t bring back laundry for house. No grilling supplies- tried texting/calling owner, no response and where’s the frozen pizza?? lol…recommend owner to buy a toaster ( not that expensive)… overall it was just okay

Softball tourney
We came looking for a house to stay with kids. As hotel is not ideal for 3 nights/days with softball tourney for oldest. It was about 30 min from where our fields were but very doable. We loved the view! We loved the cleanliness. We were sceptical at first as coming in the dark and never having been, the dark, winding roads we were taken back but that was no fault to owners we just werent expexting to be so far in the woods. It was a nice stay and were sad to leave today. THANK YOU CARRS for having a sweet, quiet place to relax in our down time.

Perfect private property
This sweet little cottage is a treasure for a relaxing, private get away in the woods. The cabin has plenty of room, great water pressure and the owners added all the little touches that make the stay stress free -providing linens, paper towels, towels, shampoos, charcoal, coffee filters, and yes, a pizza in the freezer (just to name a few). There are no neighbors to either side, just beautiful wooded land. The deck seating and views can’t be beat. Waking up to the mirrored lake and humming birds is mesmerizing. Although we didn’t fish, the lake is clearly filled with fish that can be seen from the dock along with some turtle friends. The owners being pet friendly is the icing on the cake as the dog loved to explore the smells of the woods and swim at the waters edge. Thank you Nancy and Chris for a great family weekend!
