Surprise resort fees and a weekly type vibe. Bad
I always make sure all taxes and fees included when I book on this site, but then when I got to this particular seedy motel, no one was there and had to call a number and wait 10 or so minutes, no biggy. But checking in I'm blindsided they're trying to charge me $35 a night resort fee. I argued and argued and brought up the new California law and showed my emailed and proved it I had all taxes and fees included, then had them promise me they weren't going to charge because they needed a credit card on file for incidentals. And they promised then after I checked out, they charged me those resort fees anyways. This hotel is also a weekly, people living there type vibe, bbq'ing out front, and working on cars. The toilet in my room had a strong sewer smell. Bed very uncomfortable and I sank in holes, like way too old or too soft. No cable channels as I was looking forward watching football. Loud doors. Two blocks away from the ocean. I would not stay here again, especially after this ordeal.

This hotel is in terrible condition. Mattresses are horrendous. Breakfast is stale cereal. Jacuzzi tub does not work, and there’s no hot water any ways. And, the owner will not let you out of your reservation, even if the services offerer are falsely advertised. This was a terrible experience.

You get what you pay for.
It was a decent spot but it has been run down. Not bad if you’re just getting some rest and a shower. Beds were okay. Linens were clean. Also was not beach front as shown in photos.

This is a nice motel. The staff is friendly and the location is great. The room we stayed in needed updating, but I noticed other ground fllor rooms were already updated. I woul suggest paying for a nicer room. We had a good stay and will return.

Warning, Dirty Hotel.
This hotel is very old and very dirty. The help are friendly but dealing with lots of complaints and responded in befuddled, unhelpful ways. There is an agreement clause that needs to be signed upon check-in that has a disclaimer about bedbugs. Yuck!!

Our stay at the Shores Inn Motel & Beach Houses was a disappointment. The pictures online are very deceiving. They show only the beach house photos, and nothing of the actual Shores Inn Motel. Their website did not allow for selection of the beach houses. The staff did everything they could to accommodate with what they had to work with. Our first room was extremely humid. The ceiling in the bathroom had started to bubble from what I presume to be a leak from the unit above. It was impossible to take a shower because the bathtub didn’t drain and the toilet flushing filled up the bathtub. Water also leaked out at the base of the toilet from the back. We tried to switch rooms, but the new room had an unpleasant odor. We tried to suck it up, but then the whole curtain rod collapsed with the curtains when we tried to close them. The staff on site tried to do everything they could to accommodate by bringing another curtain rod, but they were not provided with adequate supplies and the only thing they were able to bring was a fragile, improperly secured unit that was missing parts. At this point we had decided not to stay our remaining night here, and we just drove home.

A bit run down. There is no AC and to get fresh air into the room you have to have the windows open which look directly out to where everyone is walking and anyone can see in. They provide fans but we had to go buy another more powerful one to really get some airflow. The water pressure was substandard. However, the staff was very helpful and friendly and the location was really why we stayed there. We really liked that the had a mini fridge

Our room had a king bed which was thankfully comfortable. The only plus. A kitchenette that had full fridge microwave broken drawers and a cupboard with a small coffee brewer no cups. The window coverings had holes there was no smoke detector it was ripped down. A lamp was on a portable heater and dangling cords from lamp and tv, no closet or dresser not one drawer. Bath had no towel bars or TP holder and smelled like sewer. It definitely wasn’t worth what they charge. And the website has pics of beach front rooms THEY ARE NOT BEACH FRONT. The front desk gal was very friendly the only reason we really stayed
