This is an lovely old hotel. The property is very well maintained. It is remarkably clean and well taken care of…not a mark of wear and tear anywhere. It is in a quiet residential area but within easy walking distance of the inner harbor and Government Street. Parking is right behind the building. There is free morning coffee. There is a pub/ restaurant downstairs. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They offered to help carry up the luggage. They are there 24/7. When we called for a hair dryer at 6:00 in the morning, they brought it up immediately. The only reason for the 4 stars is there is no elevator if you have mobility issues or a lot of luggage. There also is no air conditioner (just a fan) and our room was facing toward another window and was across from one side of the bed . Leaving the window opened helped but we had to close the privacy curtains at night. Because of that the room got stuffy at night.

The front desk was very helpful and friendly, and when we mentioned leaving at 5:45 am to go to our west coast trail bus they offered to ask the night staff to put the coffee on early so we could have some before we left. I did book the simplest room but have to admit it was a bit cramped for two people. The in suite bathroom is good, but the sink for the bathroom is inside the room instead of in the actual bathroom. Not a huge deal, but notable.

The property is old and some of it is charming and some needs more care. I was concerned about the safety practices in play with the front desk telling everyone exactly their room number, which creates risk especially for women, because everyone in the lobby now knows where that person and their belongings are. And all the keys have the room numbers on them, so anyone who found one can go in.

Enjoyed the location. Parking spots were tight, saw one guy get bumped in the lot. Rooms were fairly noisy with sounds from hall, outside and next door very clear. The service was excellent and they did warn us that it was an older hotel and with that though historically fun did lack a few of the modern conveniences.

We stayed here for dragon boat festival and was an easy walk to the Harbor. Older building but nicely kept, room and bathroom was a bit small but would assume that is common for the era of the building age. We brought a car so having on site parking, closeness to the harbor and affordability was the main reasons we chose it.

Had a fantastic 2 night stay here in mid-August. Perfect location to walk wherever you need to get to in downtown Vic. Beautifully looked after old world hotel. Excellent and comfy bedding along with great amenities. Not recommended for people that can’t navigate stairs well….as there is no elevator.

This property is quaint and has a European vibe. If you like modern it’s not for you but it’s affordable and a great location. There’s no elevator or air conditioning which may be a consideration for some. But nice to be able to open the window. The staff was great!
