Loved the fact that the rooms have balconies. Rooms kind of outdated refrigerator did not work tall it kept running the TVs in the room are very small. Carpets and hallway need to be replaced. Ice machine on our floor was not in service. On the upside customer service was very pleasant

The property needs some love, meaning that it needs to be more clean, new furniture, and the also the breakfast is not a full buffet. They only serve bagels, muffins, and some fruits and snacks.

We had a nice, affordable stay. We WERE disappointed that they changed their morning breakfast to continental (as of 25 July) vs. hot items. This was one of the key factors in choosing this hotel was a hot breakfast. We were traveling with three teens and we ended up going out to breakfast most days during our stay. The rooms were fine and clean. The staff was pleasant, the location was good for our plans. The pools (indoor and outdoor) were nice. We enjoyed our stay.

The reality is this property is "fine." It's rundown, but if the price seems right to you, take it and lower your expectations. If you just need a bed and shower and don't plan on spending any other time here, it's fine. The photos are not accurate. They're clearly from some time ago. Again, If you want new, and really clean, with good amenities, this is not your jam. If you want cheap, and can overlook a little dirt and wear and tear, it's fine.

A middle budget hotel with clean rooms. Close to many restaurants and stores, but not on congested street. Colonial Williamsburg about ten minutes away. I recommend breakfasting at Capitol Pancakes. Generous portions.

The Hotel was nice but a little aged. There was a musty smell coming off the elevator on the third floor. I imagine it was quite the spot in its heyday. None the less, it was a nice stay. I would stay again. The staff was very friendly.

Couldn’t open door to balcony bathroom door was broken bathtub was chipped up. Pool wasn’t working. Could be a beautiful place if it was fixed up

Expedia/Hotels.com need to be more honest
Hotels.com and Expedia at large needs to do a better job of posting accurate information on its online listings. The booking transaction allowed me to request a rollaway bed/cot for the room. When I arrived, the staff told me that's not actually an option because the room is too small to allow it and it would be a fire hazard. They then informed me of other examples of mistaken or even fraudulent information in the listings for their hotels made by the Expedia company.

Good, but not great
I used to stay at Fort Magruder as a child with my family, and thought it would be nostalgic to stay there with my son. I am unsure that memories are just romanticized or if the quality of the hotel has gone down, but it was, what I would consider a mid level hotel. It was not great, but it was not horrible. The staff were not rude, but they were not overly friendly either. The room was okay, but the hallways had a strange odor to them. Would I stay here again?? I'm not sure. If the price was right, I probably would, but I definitely have others in town that I prefer.
