This is one of W2's finest, historic neighborhoods and our home has a unique story. Built in 1939, it was designed by Elizabeth Ayer. In 1921, Ayer graduated as both the fourth student to get a Bachelor of Architecture in UW’s history, in addition to being the department’s first female graduate! And that's not all, our yard was designed by landscape architects Elizabeth Lord and Edith Schryver. They were the first women in the Pacific Northwest to own and operate their own landscape architecture firm, designing over 200 landscapes and gardens in the region between 1929 and 1969. Come visit our tranquil, park like yard, while sipping your new favorite wine!
Guests have access to the entire guest house, a portion of the backyard and one off street parking space.
Make yourself at home in the original, detached garage (turned guest house). This space was thoughtfully designed with guests' utmost comfort in mind, and it's 400sq ft of perfection! Prepare a meal in the full kitchen, including a stove/range, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, and Keurig coffee maker. Relax in the brand new, queen-sized bed with an automatic, adjustable base, and high thread count linens. Rejuvenate in the upscale bathroom with lux towels, a full tiled shower, and heated floors. Catch up on your favorite Netflix series while watching the 55" LED TV from the comfort of the oversized loveseat. Sip your new favorite wine while taking advantage of the tranquil, private gardens or easily stroll the tree-lined streets through Whitman campus to downtown shops, restaurants, wineries, and parks! If you're looking for an authentic Walla Walla experience, you can't beat the location, ambiance, outdoor space, or neighborhood! It's the perfect getaway for couples, solo adventurers, & business travelers alike.
The owners, along with their 4 extremely friendly dogs live in the main house. Not to worry, with your own private entrance and separate yard, you'll have ample privacy to enjoy the space as your own!
For those that love classic, historical homes, the main house was built for a local judge in 1940 and designed by Elizabeth Ayer. In 1921, Elizabeth was the first female graduated to earn a Bachelor of Architecture from Washington State University, in Seattle WA.
To add to the uniqueness of the home, the yard is very special as well! It was designed by Edith Schryver and Elizabeth Lord! These pioneer women were the first in the Pacific Northwest to own and operate their own landscape architecture firm, designing over 200 landscapes and gardens in the region between 1929 and 1969. Although we have made a few additions to the yard, their vision has remained for over 80 years.
Our home is located within a short walking distance to downtown, with access to countless tasting rooms, restaurants and shopping!
This is a guest house located in the backyard of the main property.
