Here for DC's famed monuments, memorials, and museums? Not a problem - you'll have the fastest access to them all from the Columbia Heights Metro Station. We can't wait to show you why we call DC home!

While the entire row home has been freshly renovated the English Basement received special attention to provide you with modern amenities, ample space, and plenty of light to make your stay as comfortable as possible!

Columbia Heights is a neighborhood well-known for its diverse multicultural community and strong neighborhood pride. Located in the Northwest Quadrant, Columbia Heights sits right in the middle of some of the city's most active and desirable neighborhoods. This bustling neighborhood is just minutes from some of the best food, shopping, bars, and attractions in the country.

One of the greatest luxuries of DC: GREAT public transportation! The Columbia Heights Metro stop is a short 5 minute walk. There are also plenty scooters, bikes, and Uber/Lyft (they are FAST so make sure to be ready when you order it).
- We love and respect our neighbors and our house - please do the same.
- Please, no excessive noise, parties, events.
- Only guests on the reservation may occupy the house.
- Quiet hours are in place from 10pm to 8am. (As this is a row home neighbors are close by, and the upstairs unit is occupied year-round.)
- No smoking and no pets.
- The DC community cares about recycling and preserving the environment - please separate trash and recycling.
- Please be tidy and clean up as necessary: dishes, trash, etc...

We popped up to DC for a heartbreakingly short stay but we absolutely loved it! The kitchen is well stocked with equipment for home meals, and the location is close to the metro station, restaurants and grocery stores! We had no problem navigating to the Smithsonian! Next time I plan a visit to DC I’m definitely going to be checking this VRBO availability first!

Perfect Place to Stay in DC
The English Basement was perfect. It was a short stay for us in DC but the apartment had everything we needed. The check in process was so easy. Communication was excellent. We were excited to find an apartment with two bedrooms. The neighborhood was nice and parking was easy with a free pass for on street parking. It was about a 20 min drive to the National Mall and museums. So glad we chose this apartment!

Weeklong stay
What a great place to stay. Two bedrooms, a nice bathroom, laundry facility on site, and a spacious kitchen/living room area. Everything was clean and tidy upon arrival with everything you need for a stay. Washing machine even had pre-loaded detergent, and the bathroom had handy dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Street parking was only tricky on the one day we came back to the home at a fairly late hour-but we were still able to find parking close by. Hosts were very responsive to messages and the whole vibe of the place was excellent. Highly recommend this place. Hmm, people always want to know what can be improved upon. I suppose the pillows were too fluffy for my bad neck (no worries as I had my own because I am always prepared). Yhe biggest travesty of all was that I didnt get to meet the Senior Hostess-being one Great Dane named Calli. Otherwise I will gladly recommend this home to all. rrecommendtthishhome.homestays.d

Our family was deciding between a hotel closer to downtown or this apartment. We are so glad we chose this place! Staying in the neighborhoods gives a better sense of the city. The “Cellar” is located in a great neighborhood with plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops within a short walk. We felt very safe walking around. Sightseeing locations were just a short drive away. The apartment itself is comfortable with a great living/kitchen area to relax and comfy beds to rest up for the next day. There is also a cute patio to sit and relax after a long sightseeing day. The owners are very responsive and make it easy to check in and out. We would definitely stay here again if back to DC.

The Stellar Cellar was clean, spacious, comfortable and conveniently located. The shower is excellent! And it was very convenient to be able to wash and dry our clothes before returning home. The owners were super responsive. I would definitely recommend and would come back again next time!

Very nice place. It’s the whole basement unit. Yes we could hear the big dog running around upstairs, but it was not a nuisance. Seemed recently remodeled. Spotlessly clean. Fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and laundry. Beds comfortable and living room has comfortable seating for 4 adults. Nice bathroom and shower. Parking is kind of a drag. Unit comes with parking pass for street parking but we had to move the car at 9:30am. Coulda used more towels but laundry is available. Overall highly recommend.

This was a great spot for our family trip- clean, comfortable, stocked, in a great location (10 min. walk to train or bus), great restaurants in walking distance. We had no problem finding street parking. Hosts responsive. A very comfortable spot to stay after busy days in DC. All in all, no complaints at all!

Comfy home in quiet neighborhood
My (adult) son and I stayed for 5 nights in this gorgeous home. The check-in process was seamless and communication from the host was perfect. We found the apartment to be spotlessly clean and the neighborhood was quite and safe. We were able to find street parking without any trouble, but be sure to note the signs for street sweeping. We found it most convenient to leave our vehocle parked and utilize ride sharing services for getting around. The beds were quite comfortable and the kitchen was well supplied with pans, dishes, and utensils. We also appreciated the generous supply of k-cups for our morning coffee. I especially appreciated NOT having a long list of chores at check-out! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
