The Grounds
The exterior and grounds of the Blue House are in the planning stages and are scheduled to be completed in the spring, summer, and fall seasons of 2024-2025.
The Living Room
You will find comfort and simple practicality in The Blue House living room. With a matching full-size upholstered couch, loveseat, chair, microfleece throws, TV, and an electronic fireplace to warm you up on chilly days. The fireplace can be used without heat to create a cozy feeling.
The Dining Room
The dining table seats six but could seat up to eight by adding two chairs from the café room. Dim the lights when a more intimate atmosphere is desired. Find games in the corner cabinet for family fun.
The Kitchen
The Blue House has a very efficient kitchen, nicely equipped with all-new major and small appliances, pots and pans, and tableware.
The Bedrooms
Each bedroom has new bedding from the bedframe up, with a dresser and chair in each room. Bedside lights double as charging stations for phones and tablets. Did I mention the remote-controlled lights and ceiling fans? Well, I'll mention them again because they are really convenient. Once the room light is turned on, you can control the lights and ceiling fans from the comfort of your bed by remote control. The hardwood floors have area rugs for warmth and comfort when you first step out of bed in the morning. A full-length mirror is provided in the upstairs foyer to check out your attire when attending a wedding or other formal event.
The Café Room
The café room off the kitchen is a place for relaxation. There is a coach and table for four and a TV to watch the news while you have your morning coffee. It is also an excellent place for eating or a rousing game of cards or scrabble.
The Bathroom
A completely renovated, well-lit, and mirrored bathroom with all new fixtures, including a wall-mounted shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner dispenser, makes getting ready for the day a joy. You will find all you need, including bath towels and make-up removal towels, in both your room and the storage space behind the toilet.
The Laundry
A new washer and dryer are located in the basement for guests who who wish to do laundry during their stay. Laundry detergent is provided.
The Blue House Boat Dock
The Blue House is located very close to the Cayuga-Seneca Canal. We have a seasonal boat dock at 5 & 20 Marine, less than a quarter mile from the premises. The use of this dock is included in your rental. It is available from May 1 to November 1. The boat launch is very close to the dock dock.
The Cayuga-Seneca Canal gets its name because it connects the two largest lakes in the Finger Lakes Region, Seneca Lake and Cayuga Lake. The canal is a tributary of the Erie Canal system, and as such, you can reach the Atlantic Ocean from it. Enjoy excellent fishing, a paddle, or a cruise on the canal or lakes. A 10% discount on a pontoon boat rental is available for our guests at Stivers Seneca Marine; use code VACAY2024. There are numerous lakes, marinas, and launch points in the Finger Lakes Region.
The Driveway and Parking Area
There is off-the-street parking for two vehicles and space for three if one vehicle is parked in the garage. A fourth space is reserved for the cottage behind The Blue House. The driveway must be kept clear at all times other than the unloading of luggage during check-in.
Entertainment
In addition to the Geneva nightlife, with great restaurants and a music scene, The Blue House provides board games and cards for more traditional family fun or when the weather may hamper your plans to explore the area. Our area is rich in history, with many local historical sites and museums. And, if big-screen movies are your thing, the Smith Center for the Arts in Geneva sports the largest movie screen in the Finger Lakes area, as well as live music and entertainment.
Wineries, Breweries, and Distilleries
The Finger Lakes is a wine region. Recently, it has also become a region for breweries and distilleries. You can experience some of the country's best wine, beer, and spirits here.
