Always a pleasant experience.
I have stayed at the Norfolk Arms multiple times and have never had cause for complaint. The staff are friendly and efficient and the location in the centre of town with parking is great.

The reception and breakfast room staff were friendly and helpful. I was able to get a gluten free breakfast with gluten free sausages, toast and cereal. The only choice for a gluten free evening meal in the restaurant was a burger (no roll) and salad or soft cheese and salad. The waiter seemed surprised when we said we'd leave it. I ate at one of the local pubs who were able to provide several choices of meals with gluten free chips and a gluten free roll for the burger.

A welcome break

A lovely, spacious room, in a delightfully rambling Georgian coaching inn. My room had a nice view over ancient rooftops to open countryside. And the complimentary shampoo and liquid soap were eco & skin-friendly. The landings and stairwells were cosy (sofas, cabinets, old mirrors, prints...). I thought I should drop 'facilities (etc)' to 4 because – as they made very clear in advance and on check-in – my top-floor room had a bath only (no shower), low ceilings, and no lift. The reception desk staff were very welcoming. I would happily stay there again some day.

I loved my room at the very top of the hotel, it was very comfortable and had windows on both sides. I was told it was top floor without lifts, and I was fine with this. I loved all the paintings, antique furniture and knock knacks around the public areas, and there was real character to the place The reception staff were extremely friendly and pleasant. I felt completely safe and comfortable as a solo traveller.

The bed was comfortable and the bathroom good. Great location. Lovely staff. The issues are, the wifi doesn’t work. It would disconnect constantly. The room & bathroom was dusty. We didn’t eat breakfast there.
