Our well-kept and clean one-bedroom condo faced a scruffy little plot surrounded by beach dunes, but walk up just a few steps to the back of the property (and the already booked two-bedroom condo) and a beautiful, mouth-dropping, awe-inspiring, meditative, anxiety-banishing, and a make-you-believe-the-world-is-still-a-good-place, white-sanded beach revealed itself in all its glory. I took a great big inhale and as I let go my thoughts drifted to heavy-mint-ladden mojito and a pan-fried hogfish at the near-by Nipper's bar and grill (just 300 feet or so away). This is an island, where if you feel the urge to pamper yourself you just do it. No second thoughts. So I did. The sound of the ocean waves and the sight of innumerable stars in the clear night sky accompanied me as I returned to my simple abode, and lay down on the comfy full size bed (I chose the top bunk :). I slept deeply that first night, better than I had in months. And when I woke up, just as the sun was rising, I was calm.
