Whanga Butcher Shop Whangamomona

This Butcher Shop is in the village of Whangamomona. A comfortable house for your stay here.

A fully furnished house with a fully stocked kitchen which will allow you to either eat here or eat out.

We bought this around 5 years ago and it has taken a while to get it renovated to what it is today. It was quite a job with not much going in the direction of how we wanted it to! But by this time we are very happy with how it is and hope that you are too.

Whangamomona is largely a place to relax and enjoy. Or you can go exploring the village and even walk the Whangamomona Road which is sure to please.

There are many points of history around this area with a lot of wonderful pictures to view in the McCluggage Store, right next door.

We have a library of books for you to enjoy reading and a good few magazines to get through. Games are stacked on the bookshelf for a fun night in.

Please note the cost for 1 person is $100 per night.

Extras: Cleaning (included); Linen (included);

Rustic Comfort
It's an old shop so it's a bit worn, but it has more than everything you need for a comfortable stay. Good fireplace and lots of firewood, books, magazines, games. Breakfast provisions laid on which was unexpected but very convenient. Good shower. Less than a 1 minute walk to the pub for meals.

We were a little worried as to how we would fill a day in Whangamomona. We had no problem, it is a quirky little town and we enjoyed just looking around and talking to people. The proximity to the hotel was great and we enjoyed our meals there. We were pleasantly surprised at the food left for us to use. Thoroughly reccommend this property.

Comfortable and very peaceful stay
The butcher shop is a comfortable size for a 1bedroom. Had everything we needed and was clean. Has a good sized covered outside area. You can see the pub from the front door. We had an excellent sleeps because the town was so quiet at night, not even cars in the distance or anything, just some crickets and the odd bird. The locals and other visitors to town were all very chill, approachable and friendly.

We went to my cousins "wake" and I know the area. I did not know it was privately owned "Butchers Shop "B&B. It was everything we could wish for and so like a shooters rest, even a tin of spaghetti. Thank You.

Spacious,rustic.
Basic accommodation with abundance of guide books etc. No prior info regarding check in but fortunately a previous review advised that door would be unlocked, - which it was! Poor security. Toilet window could not be latched shut. No smoke alarm!

Nice place with great history. Not a lot to do of course, once you have walked the town and read the history. Place was extremely hot and a fan would have been great. Really uncomfortable trying to sleep in that heat.

Lovely setting to overnight in, quaint historical village. The actual Whangamomona Pub was on winter opening hours, only open Thursday to Sunday, if you are going to stay other nights, take dinner supplies 😊. Loved the peace and quiet

The accommodation was great. Very comfortable. The accommodation was left unlocked for us but we didnt know that and it would have eased my mind to have had some communication on this. The book a bach message just said it had not received information on keys etc. I understand that locks are redundant in the location buy just telling us would have been nice. We enjoyed whangamomona

A welcoming, warm and comfortable accommodation. A great place to break up the tiki-touring of The Forgotten Highway, and relax for a night before more exploring. Highly recommend and will be back for our next trip through SH43

convenient location
very cold when we arrived, but we can see why, as it is unhosted and the host lives a distance away. breakfast was very disappointing - we bought sourdough bread in the pub instead. We had requested lunches as we were about to cycle for 10 hours but there was a mix up and sadly we went without. Nice place, disappointing food as we are cyclists but others might be OK with weetbix.
