Secluded Outdoorsman's Paradise: Rocky Mountain Luxury Log Cabin Home

Fortine, Montana is located 60 miles North of Kalispell, Montana and Glacier International Airport (FCA). This two story log cabin, a historic family home which has been newly renovated, is surrounded by the Kootenai National Forest and located at the base of Mt. Marston, Mt. Baldy, Mt. Krinklehorn and the Twin Peaks mountains of the Whitefish Mountain Range. It has three bedrooms, each with their own en suite bathroom and a fourth full hallway bathroom. All en suite bathrooms feature a enclosed steam shower with back massage and rain units in addition to the normal shower head. The upstairs master bedroom features a king-sized bed and study with sweeping panoramic views. Luxury 1400 thread count sheets and electric blankets provide nighttime comfort during all seasons. The master suite contains a double steam/massage shower and two toilets.

The two first floor bedrooms feature a Queen-sized bed with heirloom furniture in one large bedroom and the third bedroom features twin beds with heirloom furniture. All beds have comforters and soft top mattresses for extra comfort. The large knotty pine paneled living room has comfortable overstuffed furniture and an upright vintage piano. The media center in this room has a HUGE assortment of movies and discs for evening entertainment and the Dish network has news and weather channels provided on the TV. The older model TV is specifically designed to accept movie discs and DVDs unlike the new flat screen TVs. It is there specifically for the purpose of allowing movies to be played for children or for family entertainment on a rainy or snowy day. The home is completely carpeted with plush carpeting with the exception of the beautiful hardwood floor in the kitchen and dining room. The dining area has a vintage bay window for viewing the wild birds and animals while eating at the antique oak table. The kitchen has all modern amenities and the home has WIFI. A new central heating and air conditioning system heats and cools the home and it also has a beautiful gas fireplace for ambiance. The home is protected by 24 hour outside surveillance and has a 6 foot security fence around the immediate yard. This 40 acre estate is totally private and is located at the very end of Deep Creek road abutting 1.4 million acres of National Forest so there is no through traffic. Deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, squirrels, chipmunks and a variety of wild birds visit the home daily and provide a closeup of Rocky Mountain nature at it's best. The views from all windows are spectacular during every season. Winters here are akin to being in a wonderland and snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding and ice skating can be accessed by simply walking out of the yard. Forest trails and small hills exist throughout the immediate forest. The home is located only 40 miles North of Big Mountain Ski Resort so day trips to downhill skiing is readily accessible. Spring and summer are equally beautiful with the blossoms on the fruit trees in the yard and the myriad of tulips, daffodils, iris, crocus, lilacs, roses and peonies. The property hosts a pond that regularly is a landing site for wild ducks and geese. Fall is spectacular with the golden Mountain Larch and Aspen intermixed with the evergreen Fir, Pine and Spruce trees. This is an outdoorsman's paradise!

The home is approximately 1 and a quarter hour drive to the entrance of Glacier Park (photo included) and white water rafting trips down the Flathead river. River and stream fishing exists within a 3 mile radius and lake fishing, boating and water skiing on beautiful Dickey Lake ( photo included) within a five mile radius. Horse back riding trips are available through an experienced trail riding ranch. Numerous forest trails are ideal for mountain biking or hiking and a multitude of golf courses exist within 15 miles of the home with one Par 3 course located just 3 miles from the home. Good restaurants are available in Fortine, Stryker, and Eureka and if guests prefer to cook at home, an outside grill is also available in addition to an oven and cooktop in the fully equipped kitchen. Guests will need to bring their own outdoor equipment such as skis , snowshoes, sleds, mountain bikes or rent equipment from local vendors. The home is located 3 miles off of Interstate 93 and a rental car is advised. The Port of Rooseville and entrance into Canada is 22 miles North of the home.

The drinking water in this home is pure spring water and is cold and delicious. We observe the Hawaiian custom of removing shoes and/or boots in the enclosed porch entryway and maintaining the cleanliness of the home interior. The floors are warm and comfortable but guests may want to bring a pair of slippers and/or socks to wear inside the home. The United States Postal Service has a post office in Fortine but rural Montana does not have postal delivery service to the door. If you wish to read your Wall Street Journal or New York Times, it is best to subscribe to these online. UPS and Fed Ex deliver packages right to the door of the cabin. The address is 3175 Deep Creek Road at Fortine, Montana 59918.

The owner is a registered dental hygienist who teaches airborne infection control nationally. All measures are taken to ensure the disinfection of the home between guests. Clorox wipes and Lysol disinfecting products are utilized to clean the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room and all surfaces requiring the touch of hands such as door knobs, light switches and railings.

Luxurious log cabin in the woods
Luxurious log cabin in the woods. This amazing cabin, located at the end of a paved road through the woods gives you the feeling that you have completely left civilian behind. You are lulled by total silence, surrounded by nature …lush greenery, deer, a small pond …it’s the perfect getaway from the hectic pace of our daily lives. The cabin is beautifully decorated. Everything you would ever need is at your fingertips. I needed a peaceful retreat and it was perfect. Also a short drive from this wonderful place I attended an outdoor concert on the shores of a Montana lake along with 2000 other people . So I would give this VRBO a 5 star plus rating when you take into consideration all of the amenities they offer, the beauty and unique serenity only being at one with nature can fulfill and the many other options available if a person wants to take advantage of opportunities in the area.

Beautiful cabin, very private.
We were very comfotable in the home. We were there in the fall and the heat worked great, and it was wonderful to be able to turn on the fireplace to warm the living room quickly. We also enjoyed the shower/steam combo - very warming on a cold night. The house was very clean and the kitchen well stocked. The beds need new matresses.

We had a wonderful experience.
We used the home for a staging area to explore the northwest corner of Montana. Hands down one of the most beautiful spots we have been. The home was secluded which is what we wanted. We saw deer everyday in the yard and had a bear cub visit on two occasions. Although the owner was worried about the bear, we enjoyed the excitement. The home was extremely well stocked with supplies that Owners typically require the Tenant to bring or go buy. This was most convenient. We would go back tomorrow if the opportunity arose.

Great Stay
Truly enjoyed our wonderful 3 week stay and strongly recommend. The fenced in yard (electric fence to keep away the bears) was fantastic, the proximity to Ten Lakes, Glacier National Park, Flathead, lake Koocanusa, etc. The upstairs master bedroom has a partition down the middle with one side making an excellent home office for those looking to do some work while in Montana. The pond was a hit with our boys especially with the inflatable kayak we brought with us.. We were able to horse back and kayak at Glacier, Fly Fish down by Libby, rent a boat on Flat Head, etc as well as many hikes around the area. Everything you could want is provided in the house in terms of supplies (including flashlights, bear spray, charcoal, coolers, paper towels, cleaning supplies, etc.) As always there are a few minor things but any issues the owner took care of them immediately. If you do a lot of cooking might be worth bringing along a chef's knife as the ones in the house were a bit dull. Highly recommend if looking to experience Montana!

Lovely Cabin
Spacious cabin in secluded area is perfect for a relaxing getaway. Some of the appliances, especially the TV, are a bit dated, but are more than made up for by the cleanliness of the rooms and the beautiful backyard. The number of birds, chipmunks, and deer that come by for a visit provide their own entertainment. Once travel to and from Canada becomes easier, this is would be a great jumping off point to Banff and/or Waterton Lakes National Park.

Get Away from it all
If you are coming to this area of the country you are likely looking for peace and solitude. We found this gem while planning for our trip to Glacier. The kitchen and the living room are well maintained and retain much of the older fixtures in the home. The bedrooms and bathrooms are appointed with modern beds, steam showers, and new fixtures. We spent every morning sitting in camp chairs, drinking coffee under the awning of the barn soaking in the silence and the smell of the pines. The nearest town with groceries and a selection of restaurants is about 15 minutes north. If you are the type of person that like being in a hotel and walking to dinner every night this is probably not for you. If you want a true wild Montana cabin to stay in but need a comfy bed and modern amenities, I don't think you could do much better than this. The owner and local care taker are super friendly and made sure to check in with us as we were making the trek from Spokane.

Nature Vacation Paradise
This secluded hideaway is a gem! A plethora of birds, chipmunks, fawn and deer adorn the property outside, and stunning antiques along with unexpected luxury make you feel "at home" inside. We loved the piano, "rain" showers and backyard picnic area. We enjoyed the peace of the outdoor garden and playing inside with the bounty of card and board games which are available. Meal time was easy as all of the condiments and spices we needed were waiting for us, along with a charcoal grill and outside fire pit. The surrounding countryside provides much entertainment, including walking trails, nearby Glen Lake for swimming/boating, good food at Jerry's Saloon in Fortine, and family fun at H.A. Brewing Co. on Grave Creek Road which has a huge sandbox for the little ones and games for all agea! The automatic blinds in the master bedroom make it a perfect vacation hide-way for lazy mornings of sleeping-in!

The perfect log cabin in the woods
From the moment we drove up, I knew we would love it. Three deer in the yard, a pond, beautiful yard with flowers and fruit trees and 1000's of acres of forest land behind it. You really feel like you are living the Montana life style and you are and not just in a condo or apartment that could be anywhere. The wildlife and especially the birds were awesome. Never saw a bear, but bear spray was provided just in case. The home is fully stocked with everything you could want and then some. The kitchen is definitely stocked with all of the spices and condiments you would ever need. I would advise you not to go grocery shopping until you see what is already there for you to use. Everything you need whether you are cooking a gourmet meal or a simple barbecue is all there. The beds are warm and cozy, but a bit on the soft side, but then that is a comment from someone with a bad back. The home has been updated to provide the most in comfort with new windows, new bathrooms, comfortable heating system and fresh flooring and pain throughout. The showers, with their massage & steam features were awesome once we figured out how to use them. I suggest you read the front of the manual to get the most from them.. The luxurious bath towels were a nice feature as well. Much of Glacier National Park was closed while we were here due to the previous forest fires, so we explored some of the beautiful mountain lakes in the area and had some wonderful hikes. All in all, it was a wonderful Montana experience and I would love to do it again with the park open and more time to spend. Mahalo to the Sayres for sharing their Montana home. Virginia and Tim were wonderful as well in showing us the home and the features and how to work everything. Mahalo to you all!

Secluded peaceful home with amazing views.
Our family stayed here while visiting other family in the area. What a wonderful peaceful place to retreat to at night. Bonus was the air conditioning. Between the fires in Canada and the hundred plus degree days it was wonderful to come home after a long day at the lake to a cool house. You truly only need to pack the essentials as Laura provides everything else for your stay. Loved all the wild life. We got to see Chipmunks, deer, mountain lions, and all different kinds of birds. Truly what you expect of a Montana. We will be back.

The perfect cabin in Northwest Montana!
If you want to get away for a while, this is the right choice! It’s far enough from everything, but still close. The cabin itself is very beautiful and comfortable. So peaceful and quiet! There were six in my party. The upstairs bedroom/office is absolutely amazing. Personally, we liked the new showers. The home was so comfortable that we just stayed “in” for a couple of days to appreciate the natural beauty. We enjoyed the deer, robins, hummingbirds, and chipmunks in and around the property. We did a lot of fly fishing at Lake Therriault, Deep Creek, Tobacco Creek and Graves Creek. The kids caught really large trout at Flathead Lake, we went to Glacier Nat’l Park to Logan’s Pass, then saw it in the air via helo, went on the chair lifts at Fernie, BC and Big Mountain and did some hiking, watched the Tobacco Valley rodeo in Eureka, experienced fantastic food choices, and on and on. We bought a lot of pies and pastries at nearby Rollin in Dough. I had a burger at Cafe Jax in Eureka made with jalapenos, huckleberry jam and ice cream. The tastes were so incredible and so different that it was the best burger I ever tasted. You can’t go wrong staying at this cabin. I am so glad we did. A ten-day stay was not long enough for the many things we wanted to do in that part of the U.S. Overall an amazing place and memorable experience!

Quiet vintage beauty
This property was great for our trip with 6 adults. It is secluded at the end of a mountain road - very quiet and peaceful. The house is like a step back in time with vintage kitchen, living room and decor. Very charming. Each bedroom has a newly renovated very nice private bath which was perfect for our adult group. Each was well stocked with new towels and all the essentials. The kitchen had everything we needed for making our meals and even a pantry available to us in case we forgot something with our grocery run. The beds were comfortable. Honestly it was like going to your Aunt's house fully set up!!

Amazing stay! The property is so secluded and quiet and the scenery is breathtaking!
We had deer visit every day as well as many beautiful wild birds including four varieties of hummingbirds. Squirrels, chipmunks and turkeys were abundant. The snow capped mountains were a beautiful contrast to the flowering fruit trees in the yard. The weather was cool and crisp in the mornings and we loved watching the variety of wild ducks land on the pond to take their baths. The fresh mountain air made taking morning hikes in the forest a real treat. We discovered some very rare wild flowers on our hikes allowing for some excellent still photography. We could not recommend this home more highly!! The beds are very comfortable and the automatic blackout blinds allowed us to sleep as late as we wanted. The kitchen is very well equipped and stocked with spices and condiments. The owner provided several gourmet coffees and chocolate macadamia nuts for our enjoyment which was lovely. The home was luxurious for a cabin and extremely clean. Can't wait to come back again!
