The hotel is authentic and unique! It needs (and deserves) an update. The staff is absolutely friendly and does everything to make your stay comfortable. The historical setting and atmosphere is worth every penny we paid for our stay. The square in the centre of this little village is top!

Great central location! Large spacious rooms! Comfortable beds. The historical houses could use a overhaul! You see rotting wood, rusted away iron in many places. Very reasonable price!

The setting is just beautiful. You need to spent time to walk around in the gardens with art. It's just gorgeous. The room is specious but the bathroom needed attention. The shower was terrible: Not much water coming out and the hot and cold water was very difficult to control. The mirror above the sink was "vintage" look which made it hard to do my make up in the morning.

I like the historical background of the property. However the management probably needs to get new investors to raise the ambience of the property. There are clear signs of under-investment. I should add that in going around Curacao in a limited way on a 3 day visit I thought generally there seemed to be under-investment in property. It could be where I passed.

Opphold i historisk hotellkompleks.

Old World island charm
This is a hidden gem...charming in an old world, bygone day way. Absolutely perfect for me - who deplores the hipster hype and vibe. Super private. I had the grotto pool to myself both days. Grounds are beautifully maintained with wonderful hidden enclaves. Great location near Floating Bridge. Breakfast was good, not great (but free). Staff was hit or miss...most not overly friendly, but competent. Reasonable drink prices and dinner specials. They advertise a free shuttle to sister hotel's private beach. But fail to mention it is 45 min away and shuttle runs once. You are stuck on the north end of the island (with nothing to do except tiny and rocky beach and very limited food choices) for 5 hrs. Room was large with private courtyard that could use a few potted plants, furnished with antiques and huge 4 poster bed. Some reviews have said it could use a refresh. I disagree. I loved the 19th century island village feel of the place. If quiet, private is what you like, this is perfect!!

The location is great! The property itself is pretty cool, like a small village. But it needs some upgrades. The pool was extremely chlorinated, the showers were weak, among other issues that aren't worth going into. If somebody put some time and money into this spot, it would be ideal. The front desk person, Danielle, was very nice and accommodating even though we checked in early. Just a few upgrades and this plsce would be twice as much per night

I enjoyed the rustic ambiance of the place. The hotel is within very close proximity to shopping area, food outlets and the famous bridge. The room was cleaned everyday and clean towels were given to us. I must compliment the staff on their friendliness except for one staff at the front desk. There were no concierge service so carrying our suitcase to and from our room were a bit difficult since we had a room located upstairs. The internet service was also another issue we had. The problem was resolved after 24 hours which was a bit lengthy. The water pressure in the bathroom was also low on one morning but that problem was resolved within a timely manner. The pool was a bit dirty hence i was reluctant to swim in it

A return visit for us. Staff are very gracious and helpful and the hotel location is excellent. The room was kept clean but it seems the property is sliding downwards. We had a great deck but didn’t use because never cleaned of bird droppings on tables, etc. Also had an iguana who liked to hang out in the tree above the deck and have his bathroom breaks on our deck. We do not blame this on the hotel.
