Curaçao Luxury at a Decent Price Point
Third trip to Curacao. The Sandals resort was nice, but three critical things to keep in mind- they do not have natural beachfront, a small man made inlet; the resort is hell and gone from Williamstead, $100+ Uber ride, and they do have a Uber like service on the island; aside from the large infinity pool or your own private pools, if you roll for the $1,500-2,500 per night villas, there really isn’t that much to do. The golf course is right there, but once you do a circuit through their themed restaurants… that’s it.
You can drive on the island, right hand drive, but the roads are sketchy, no shoulders, tight, and confusing signage.
.
Since it was my wife’s first time, that’s why we stayed at Sunscape - we stayed three nights at an all inclusive near town, at half the price, and a 5 min. drive and close to a lot of things to do. Including. four casinos. So we got to sight see - shop, experience authentic island cuisine at an absolutely wonderful resort. The staff were attentive, the room is older, but clean, new bath. The beaches were nice, the pools too. The food was great, and the drinks strong.
And then we went baller for the $1k+ a night Sandals experience for a couple days, 3-4 is all you you will need, a week is too much, you will go stir crazy even through it is absolutely beautiful…
Do your homework.. But if you really want Curacao, weigh your options and your purse, you do have many options..
Sunscape is wonderful, close in… soild 3 star experience.
