Borealis ~ Recreational Haven
Welcome to Borealis Yurt, a luxurious glamping retreat in the heart of Alaska's recreational haven. Enjoy easy access to a variety of outdoor adventures, from summer hiking and biking trails to fishing in nearby creeks and rivers, and winter cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails. After an adventurous day, relax in your cozy yurt featuring a deck, kitchenette, and access to a heated shared bathhouse with a shower and laundry facilities.
When you enter the yurt, you'll find a comfy queen bed with charging ports, Alaskan-themed books, and bedside lights. On cool nights, you can light a fire in the Blaze King woodstove, use the space heater, or snuggle up with the electric blanket provided in a basket by the stairs.
The yurt is dry, meaning there is no running water. You'll have a water container that can be filled from the well outside, and a grey water bucket below. The kitchenette is fully equipped with a small sink, microwave, fridge/freezer, Keurig coffee maker, French press, coffee grinder, electric cooktop, toaster, cooking spices, and all necessary dishes and utensils. Enjoy locally roasted coffee from Farm Loop Coffee, tea from Felicity Loft, and lotion made by Grey Fox.
A small dining table, chess board, deck of cards, and binoculars for birdwatching on the large deck are also provided. Next door, a heated bathhouse with a toilet, shower, and washer and dryer is shared with guests in Borealis Yurt.
From the yurt, you're just minutes from world-class fishing at Sheep Creek, Goose Creek, Montana Creek, and the Kashwitna River. We can recommend excellent fishing guides. Enjoy local ATV trails directly from the property or explore millions of acres of public lands for snow machining in winter, with rentals and delivery available, or bring your own. The local dog mushing community maintains multi-use trails in winter, ideal for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
Other activities include dog sled tours, flightseeing, river rafting, and hiking. Aurora Yurt is a perfect base for adventures to Hatcher Pass, Talkeetna, or even a road trip to Denali National Park. For dining, Sheep Creek Lodge's restaurant is just minutes away, and the Denali Brewing and Tasting Room is also nearby.
You will have full private access to your yurt and deck. You'll have shared access to a heated bathhouse with toilet, shower, and laundry used also by guests from one other yurt.
The cabin is on property that houses two yurts, two guest homes, and the owner's home. Please be respectful of others' space.
The owner is a dog musher who lives on the property. For safety reasons and out of respect for the well-being of our sled dogs, guests are prohibited from accessing the sled dog yard located down at the end of the driveway to the right.
You are welcome to reach out for questions or recommendations at any time!
