Things to do
The city is famous for its role in the founding of modern day China, with the Wuchang Uprising having taken place in the city in the early 1900s. Sun Yat-Sen spoke to the masses, encouraging a revolution. You can visit the Memorial Hall where this monumental event took place. Other museums include those dedicated to art.
Temples are scattered throughout the city, with Baotong Temple, Guiyuan Temple, and Changchun Taoist Temple among the favourites. A major tourist attraction is the soaring Yellow Crane Tower, which allows you to enjoy great views. For some relaxation head to the sparkling East Lake where you can enjoy beaches and parks. Moshan Hill offers good hiking and pretty views. Kids and adults alike will enjoy Wuhan Zoo, with its wide array of animals and amusement rides. Step into the glitzy shopping centres to escape the heat, and take a wander through Tanhualin with its assortment of trinkets and knick-knacks. A visit to Jinqing Street in the evening is a must – be entertained by street performers and enjoy delicious street food.
