Accommodation In Wynyard
Does a holiday down by the bay along the Bass Strait sound like your ideal holiday? Then our Wynyard hotels are just what you need. Take a holiday in this gorgeous town and get ready to unwind and relax. The fertile agricultural town of Wynyard was settled in the mid-19th century, when it was known for its timber mill and wharf. These days, it's more popular with tourists for its relaxing atmosphere and laid-back lifestyle.
Kick off your shoes and relax on white quartz sand at Boat Harbour Beach. Grab your snorkelling gear and check out the coral formations just off the shore. The nearby Table Cape lookout offers great coastal views, and exploring Rocky Cape lighthouse is fun for the whole family. There's a national park not far from the lighthouse which gives you the opportunity to check out the local native wildlife in its natural habitat. One of the most popular sites in town is Fossil Bluff, which is home to a 20 million year old marsupial fossil – the oldest in Australia. If you're in town in spring, make sure you attend the three week Bloomin' Tulips festival, which is the highlight of the year in Wynyard.
For those budding photographers, you'll want to visit St Stephen's Church. This beautiful old church is one of the most photographed churches in Australia. The Wonders of Wynyard is also well worth visiting for its unique displays of art pieces and vintage Ford cars. There are plenty of cafes and takeaway shops in town, as well as a tavern, where you can grab a bite to eat. The Made with Love market bazaar is held on the second Saturday of every month. You can find hand-made goods here, as well as locally grown produce. Burnie locals love boating, fishing, horse riding and playing golf. You might be able to join them on the course, or out on the water.
The centre of town is only 3km from Burnie airport, and it's easy to get around using the public bus system. So, book your flights to Burnie and your Wynyard accommodation today.
