Well located, japanese style, great onsen
We stayed in this hotel while visiting Nagano prefecture in early December. The rooms are in a more traditional style with paper sliding doors, tatami mat floors and Yukata supplied for guests to wear during their stay. It has free parking which is valuable in a small town like this and having a car allows you to travel further out easier however decent train and bus services are also available I'm told. The receptionists were very helpful, offering us local advice, maps, and directions to the nearby Shiga Kogen ski resort, as well as information on ski equipment hire. The nearby Izakaya and restaurants are friendly places. The Onsen is free to use for guests and is a great experience. Very hot and relaxing there are both indoor and outdoor pools to bathe in. A new experience for myself as you do have to be nude to bathe but the Onsen are open all night so you can go at a quiet time to relax by yourself.

和風ベットルームを利用しました。 部屋は十分広く，スキーの荷物・小物を広げても，全く問題ありません。 温泉は，男女入替ですが桃山風呂を楽しめました。 夕食は，個室で味もサービスも良かったです。 朝食は，バイキングでしたが，地元の野菜がふんだんにあり，おなかいっぱいになりました。

初湯田中温泉にて
チェックイン後、部屋にフロントから電話がかかってきて、 お客様の名前がない、照合できない、と言ってこられました。 予約した値段を聞かれたので、答えたら、 そんな金額で食事つきはありえないとのこと。 フロントへ予約番号をプリントした旅程表を持って行くと、 「苗字が同じ人がいたので、間違えました。 部屋はそのままでいいです。 予約表を預からせてもらいます。」 hotels.comで、ちゃんと1泊2食付きで予約を入れたと言っても信じてもらえず、 予約番号を書いてある旅程表を取られました。 翌朝、チェックアウト時に、旅程表を返して頂き、 どうしてこういう事態になったのかの説明もないまま、 お詫びとして、七味とうがらしの小さな缶と入浴剤２袋を頂きました。 一応お詫びはされましたが、大変この旅行が不愉快なものになりました。 今までこんな対応を受けたことはなく、 初めて訪れた湯田中温泉、風情溢れる桃山風呂でしたけど、 もう2度と行くことはないです。

期待していただけに残念
老舗旅館の別館ということやホームページの情報などもあり、 期待しての宿泊だったので、少々がっかりしました。 まずは、予約時に朝食付きになっていたにも関わらず、 朝食会場の受付で、「お客様は朝食がついて いません」と言われました。 予約確認書に記載がなかったので、 念のためサービスセンターに電話して、 英文の予約確認書を送っておいてもらって良かったです…。 (これは、ホテル側の問題だけではないかも) 温泉は本館の方の歴史ある造りのお風呂に入れるので、それは満足でした。 ただし、部屋の内風呂は、シャワーの水圧が異常に低く、 故障しているのかと思うほどでした。 朝食ブッフェもイマイチで、全体的にはリーズナブルなものの、 老舗旅館の名前を活かしきれていない印象です。 かなり改善の余地ありですが、頑張ってほしいものです。

staffさんが付きまとわずさっぱりとした旅館　セルフサービス的なそして気を遣わずに過ごせる
全てが普通であり値段も税・サ・入湯料込み２食付で８０００円／人で御釣りがくる源泉かけ流し旅館はめったに無い! 夕食はそこそこ美味しくて量もちょうど。 朝食はバイキングですがとても質素な内容です。 チェックインもアウトも慣れてない方だったのかスムーズではなかったです。 お部屋は和室をじゅうたん敷いて洋室にしましたというツインルーム。トイレとバスルーム兼洗面所が大変狭く、ドアーが内開きなので出入り時苦労しました。ドアーがスライドになるだけでも違うようなきがします。 大浴場は２種類あって半日で女性用と男性用にチェンジしてました。レトロな感じのお風呂です。私は断然内風呂がぬる湯とあつ湯あってジャグジー付の場所の方が好きです。もう一つの方は露天風呂にたくさんのゲジゲジ虫が浮かんでいてゆっくりのんびりつかれませんでした(>_<)１００均のごみネットでも置いてあればいいのにと思いました。あとぬる湯はぬる過ぎるしあつ湯は足がつかれないほど熱くて～(泣) 仲居さん達は皆さん仲がいいのか明るいのか夕食時も朝食時もうるさい位おしゃべりが聞こえてました。残念!! 結論は　場所　温泉　食事　コスパ　良しです　これ以上の値段で泊まってたらクレームしてます(笑)
