Day 1: Route of the Centolla in 4x4

  • Accommodation: Domes (Lodge) in Abode of the Lake, in Tolhuin, in front of Lake Fagnano. Breakfast included in the abode confectionery.
Laguna Victoria

After passing National Route 3, at 35km we will have the crossroads with Provincial Route J, which will take us for 40km more between the forest and accompanied at all times by the Lasifahsaj River. Our first destination: Victoria Lake. There we will have our breakfast, in an ancestral site, complete with history of our native peoples. This lagoon that freezes in winter, and all year round is a natural site par excellence. After the snack we head to Puerto Almanza, a small fishing village located on the east coast of the Beagle Channel, 75 km from the city of Ushuaia.

Puerto Almanza, a small fishing village located on the east coast of the Beagle Channel, 75 km from the city of Ushuaia. The name of the place comes from a sawmill that operated in the area between the 40s and 50s. There we will contemplate the beauties of the place, and we will have our reserve ready to be able to delight with the most original indigenous dishes, at the side of the Beagle Canal. You can try Centolla Gratinada with a variety of cheeses, cooked with shortening or catch of the day.

Finally, we will begin to travel the Centolla Route, and on the way we will stop at the amazing and wonderful Flag Tree, from where you get the best panoramic views of the Beagle Channel and the Chilean islands. Then we'll return to Ushuaia.

Very early we will start from Ushuaia, after picking up by the hotels, we will start transiting National Route 3. We will take a short break to use toilets and then continue our march. After crossing Lake Fagnano, we will continue on our way to cross the access to the complementary route “A”, to enter for more than 40 km towards the sea. We'll get to Cape St. Paul like this.
Estancia Pirinaica

This route, meanders through picturesque rooms and offers incredible landscapes of hills, lengas forests, rivers and cliffs that reach the sea, being also very common to find flocks of sheep, guanacos, foxes and condors. One of the main attractions of the day are the rooms that are located on the Complementary Route A. We will visit the authentic Pirinaic Estancia. With its almost 100 years of Patagonian production, it has wonderful facilities, which we will know. We will experience the country life, shearing, as well as know work spaces such as carpentry, shearing sheds, stay helmet and the forest and environment that has the stay. We will enjoy a breakfast there, in the style of the room, with locally prepared regional products.
Faro San Pablo

After the snack, we will continue to our next attraction, the San Pablo Lighthouse (Depending on the tide conditions, you could first visit the boat Desdémona and then make the walk to the lighthouse). We will reach the top of the cape through a path. Once high, there is the ancient lighthouse tilted, and off its coast, the roasted hull of the ship “Desdémona” grounded there in the early 1980s, imprinting a dose of mystery proper to the End of the World, and as a sign of the past of shipwrecks and adventures, which happened in the brave southern seas.
Río Ladrillero

We will stop here to take in the wonderful rock formations that lie between Cabos Ladrillero and San Pablo, both to walk and to delight in the extraordinary panoramic views of the place.

At the conclusion of the walk to the lighthouse, we will head to the "Fisherman's House", to taste the best recipes of the "Robalo", fresh local fish, put on the table with the best recipes of the family of fishermen. You will taste delicious patties of smoked obalo, or seafood, speciality of the house, as well as Robalo a la pizza, unique in the end of the world.
Desdemona

At the end of lunch, amid anecdotes of the place of influence, we will go to visit the ship Desdémona, icon of the region. After all this enthralling journey, we will start returning to Ushuaia, where we estimate to arrive around 7 p.m.
