Overview

This tour was thought and offered from local people of Thethi, who will not offer you just a guide but you will dive in this local lifestyle and have a unique experience from this remote wild area of the Albanian alp, part of Thethi National Park. Wild because the nature is still virgin, untouched, as described from other tourist and the access road is still unpaved on its last 15 km. That means that it will be a kind of adventure and challenge experience driving to Theth. In just three days you will have the possibility to enjoy the beauty of the main destinations of Thethi, like the waterfall and canyon, the blue eye and stone groves, the church and the lock in tower, the accommodation in traditional guesthouses called ‘kulla’; have a dinner with local homemade and organic food, and experience Albanian welcoming in person.
We also give the possibility to challenging hikers to discuss hiking options, in the sense that instead of doing a specific destination, choose doing another one.

Day 1: Shkoder - Thethi Valley

Theth National Park

The drive towards Thethi goes through the fields of sage and lavender in the area over Koplik. After the fields the road goes up to 1750 mt altitude at the Qafe e Thores peak, where you can stop for a coffe break and enjoy the view of the hole peaks around Shala valley. After a few kilometres you will meet Edit Durham lapidary, the English anthropologist, who was one of the first foreign tourist from the 19 century.

During the first day in Thethi, after the accommodation in the guesthouse, you will enjoy a easy and pleasant walking down valley sightseeing the Church of Thethi, its museum and the Lock-in tower where you will spend almost one hour hearing the storey on how it was used during the local tradition and the Kanun, local old law. On the round walking in the valley, you can explore the local life and you can stop at any guesthouse for a visit, or close to any Bar for chatting with local people.

Day 2: Swimming day at the Blue Eye of Theth

Blue Eye of Theth

After the breakfast in guesthouse the guide will be joing you for the hiking and relaxing day close to the Stone Groves in Nderlysa and Blue Eye in Kaprre. After 1.5 hours of walking you reach Nderlysa and after a short break and a refresh on the cristal clear and cold waters from the stone groves, the hike proceed towards Blue eye for 50 minutes moderate hiking on one way. Don't forget to take with you the swimming wear and the sun cream. You can swim at the both attractions. Hole day activity. You can order a lunch box at the guesthouse or have something at the bar/restaurant in Nderlysa or Kaprre.
Day 3: Thethi's waterfall and return back to Shkodra

Grunasi Waterfall
  • 3h
During the first part of this day, after the breakfast in guesthouse, the day will proceed with the walking to the canyon and to the waterfall of Grunasi in Thethi. You can easily do this in 2.5- 3.5 hours and return back for the departure on time.
