Morogoro
On your way to Mikumi National Park, you'll pass through the Morogoro region, one of Tanzania's largest regions, covering 70,624 square kilometres—comparable in size to Ireland. Morogoro is home to Mikumi National Park and the majestic Udzungwa Mountains, which can be seen on your left when coming from Dar es Salaam. These mountains tower over Morogoro, offering a stunning scenic view.

From Morogoro town, this magnificent park lies 33 km. approximately 30-35 minutes drive time.
Mikumi National Park, is renowned for its diverse wildlife and scenic landscapes. It covers an area of approximately 3,230 square kilometres and is part of the larger Nyerere (Selous) ecosystem. Visitors to Mikumi can observe a wide array of animals, including large herds of elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, and wildebeests. Predators such as lions, leopards, and hyenas are also commonly seen.
The park is home to some rare animals, such as the African wild dog and the elusive eland. Bird enthusiasts can delight in spotting over 400 species of birds, including the lilac-breasted roller, bateleur eagle, and the striking African fish eagle. Mikumi National Park offers a quintessential safari experience with its rich biodiversity and picturesque savannahs.
Upon arrival, you'll enjoy a short game drive savour lunch in the wilderness, and afterwards, be transported to your hotel.

At the Maasai Boma Cultural Group, you can experience authentic Maasai traditions first-hand. After an early breakfast, you'll embark on a thrilling safari into the wilderness of Mikumi National Park. The early morning game drive offers the best chance to witness the park's magnificent wildlife, as animals are more active before the heat of the day. With the expertise of our guides, you'll have the opportunity to see the "Big Four" (excluding the rhinoceros, which are not native to this area): lions, buffalo, elephants, and the elusive leopards, which are known for their solitary and nocturnal nature. Additionally, you'll enjoy the sight of numerous hippos, which are abundant in Mikumi.
After an exciting morning, enjoy a delightful lunch in the heart of the wild.
Later in the day, you will be transferred back to your hotel. There, you can unwind with a hot dinner, take a refreshing bath, and relax in a warm, cosy environment for the night..
Day 3: Mikumi National Park to Ruaha National Park

In 2008, the Usangu Game Reserve merged with Ruaha, creating Tanzania’s largest national park, now spanning over 20,000 km². Located 130 km west of the Iringa Region, the park is part of the 45,000 km² Rungwa-Kizigo-Muhesi ecosystem, including the Rungwa, Kizigo, and Muhesi Game Reserves, and the Mbomipa Wildlife Management Area. Named after the Great Ruaha River, the park is a prime spot for game-viewing and can be accessed by car or via airstrips at Msembe and Jongomeru.
This vast park’s diverse vegetation supports unique wildlife, including both Greater and Lesser Kudu, sable and roan antelopes, cheetahs, elephants, lions, giraffes, and more. Over 571 bird species, including resident hornbills and many migratory birds, are found here.
Upon arrival, you can choose a short game drive and lunch in the park, or head directly to your hotel or lodge for lunch, relaxation, and an overnight stay, preparing for an exciting day ahead.

The Iringa Region is a hidden gem in Tanzania's southern highlands, offering a unique blend of history, culture, and breathtaking natural beauty.
