What you can expect

There will be a short briefing with the diving instructors for safety and assembly of the equipment, after which we will descend into the water of the Mediterranean Sea (Sicilian Ionian Sea) a few steps from our diving centre.

As a group we will wander up and down the coast paying particular attention to the currents.

We will see underwater lava rock formations dating back 1000 years
The volcanic seabed of Aci Castello is characterised by the presence of underwater rock formations deriving from the past volcanic activity of the region.

These formations, composed mainly of basalt, create a fascinating marine landscape rich in biodiversity.

Among the most common fish present:
sea bream, sea bream, sea bream, sea bass and moray eels, large groupers, stingrays, harmless relatives of sharks, and often eagle rays.

The presence of volcanic seabeds creates ideal habitats for the growth of algae and marine plants, which in turn attract small fish and other marine creatures.
