Visit the ancient Moroccan city of Essaouira, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and former Portuguese colonial town which bears the traces of its long and varied history. Your trip will start with an early pickup from your hotel and a drive from Agadir to Essaouira. On the way to Essaouira, make a few stops to see the flying goats (tree goats that can be seen hopping from branch to branch of the argan trees native to the region), rest in a Berber village and have a hot cup of mint tea or coffee, and visit an argan oil factory, a sought-after luxury product.
Once you arrive in Essaouira, follow your local guide to the traditional souk market where a variety of wares, crafts, and foods are sold, offering a tantalising array of sights and smells. After your Moroccan market experience, tour the famous Skala de la Kasbah ramparts, a relic of European engineering from the city's colonial days. From there, proceed to the bustling port of Essaouira before enjoying free time for lunch, shopping, and further exploration.
Wander the Medina (fortified city) and admire a colourful landscape populated by mosques, terraces, cafes, and markets as well as historic architecture that reflects the city's unique history. After exploring the city and its beautiful sunny beaches, catch your ride back to Agadir.
