Batu Caves in short also referred as 10th Caves or Hill for Lord Muruga as there are six important holy shrines in India and four more in Malaysia. There are a lot of steps to the Bath caves, and the monkeys will steal anything. Put everything in proper bags, they love to rip thin plastic bags away from you. The hot pools were good, but too hot for us. Our hilight was swimming in a pool at the base of waterfall, cool and fresh. The monkeys were naughty here rearranging our clothes and towels for us here. Food was basic Malaysian cuisine, but good and tasty.

Our guide collected us promptly at our hotel. Some bottles of water provided. First stop at Batik factory and shop. We bought a couple of items but no hard sell. Royal Selangor Pewter factory next. Our guide, Jasmine, explained the history and showed us around. It was so awe inspiring to learn how pewter could be formed into such intricate designs. The shop was irresistible and we bought some trinkets. Batu caves were breathtaking but so busy. A lot of steps to clmb but worth it. The monkeys didn't bother us too much. Next stop at hot springs was basic, after visiting the awesome thermal springs all over New Zealand this was poor in comparison. The waterfalls were a good walk away with more steps and I didn't make it as it was so hot and muggy! Lunch was a choice of local Malaysian or Indian and a good portion. Our guide/driver, Indran, was fantastic. We were the only two on this tour and he was full of information, clearly proud of his country. This was not a guided tour as such, we were taken to each place and given a time frame. We only had one day in Kuala Lumpar and this tour gave us the highlights.

Some places we visited we had been to before, but it was good to go back and see these places after many years. Unfortunately Batu Caves is nowhere near as pristine as it used to be and has become over commercialised and is just a money making concern.
