The Shai Hills Resource Reserve is the closest wildlife sanctuary to Accra. See baboons, birds, butterflies, antelope, ostrich, zebras and bat caves. Hiking and driving routes of various lengths are available, as well as rock scrambling. A trip to this plant will teach you how glasses are transformed into lovely beads that adorn our bodies. Watch as the glasses are crushed into a fine powder and placed into a clay mould. Examine how it is cooked by burning crushed palm kernels at an incredibly high temperature to achieve the required result. You’ll be surprised at how easy traditional technology is employed to generate a temperature of around 600°C from palm kernels.
