The Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino is an old hacienda located in Santa Marta, in northern Colombia. It occupies the house and some land of a 17th century hacienda dedicated to the production of rum, molasses, and panela. Simon Bolivar spent his last days there and died on December 17, 1830. It is located in the Mamatoco area. It houses the Altar of the Fatherland, a Museum of Contemporary Art, a botanical garden and the colonial facilities of the hacienda proper. This includes a forest bordering the Manzanares River. It is one of the biggest tourist attractions of Santa Marta and is managed by the Bolivarian Museum of Contemporary Art Foundation. This statue is emblematic of the samarians for the importance of the greatest idol of Colombian football, samarian by birth and proud for his land.
