The Grand Park of Tirana, with its artificial lake, is a lush retreat in the heart of Albania's capital. Once a grazing area for Vlach shepherds, it has transformed into a key recreational and cultural spot. The lake, created in 1955 through community effort, and the park's layout, envisioned by architect Valentina Pistoli, now host memorials, an amphitheatre, and the city's only zoo. Covering over 1.5 million square metres, it's the largest green space in Tirana, enhancing the city's landscape and microclimate. The park is rich in biodiversity, featuring a variety of trees, shrubs, birds, and other wildlife. Managed by the Agency of Parks and Recreation since 2015, it offers a range of activities and is a beloved urban oasis for residents and visitors alike.
Pallati i Brigadave
  • 30m
The Brigades Palace, a key piece of Albania's heritage, is open to the public. Hidden behind tall cypresses, its entrance features the "Pantheon" with busts of notable figures. Initially designed for King Zog in the 1930s by Italian architects Julio Berte’ and Gherardio Bosio, it stands as a unique example of "monumental rationalism." The 74-hectare park, landscaped by renowned European designers, includes a church for Queen Geraldine, sculptures, and royal gardens with fountains, statues, and a variety of trees, some over 70 years old. The palace, inaugurated in 1941, has been the residence for several of Albania's presidents since 1990, maintaining its original form through decades.

The Tirana Botanical Garden, founded in 1971 by Professor Mustafa Demiri, is located in the Small Selita hills, southwest of Tirana, near the Grand Park. Spanning 14.5 hectares, it houses 2,000 different plant species, including native Albanian flora. The garden features greenhouses for growing flowers and other plants requiring warmth. It's a popular spot for couples on their wedding day, choosing its scenic settings for photos and videos.
