1) Meet your guide at Obuse Station. Your guide will be outside the station holding a sign.
2) Wander through the picturesque streets of Obuse, guided by your expert (lots of photo opportunities!). Uncover the secrets of Hokusai's inspiration and the town's rich history.
3) Hokusai-kan Museum: Learn about the connection between Hokusai and Obuse. Admire Hokusai's original paintings, most notably the panels that adorn the ceiling of the Higashimachi and Kanmachi festival floats.
4) Matsubaya Brewery: Discover the heart of sake-making at Matsubaya Brewery. Tour the historic brewery and savour the delicate flavours of sake, a timeless treasure.
5) Kokuhei Miso Brewery: Visit a 240-year old miso brewery and discover the method of miso-making and the crucial role of koji, a special non-toxic mould essential for both miso (and sake) production. You'll get a bonus miso souvenir!
Lunch is included in this tour (the options available are: chicken / fish / vegetarian), and there will be opportunities for souvenir shopping and/or enjoying chestnut confections at a local cafe.
