Sheffield Visitor Information Centre

travel thru the rural country side on the way to Sheffield, a quaint town often referred to as the "Mural Town," boasts a reputation for its warm hospitality, rural charm, and an array of attractions. Drawing in more than 200,000 visitors annually, it's certainly a must-visit destination when in Tasmania, Australia. If you happen to be here in November, you'll have the chance to experience the annual Mural Fest, where you might encounter numerous talented painters participating in this captivating event.
Cradle Mountain
  • 1h 30m
The journey to Cradle takes us through the beautiful landscape . In 1910, Gustav Weindorfer declared that this should become a National Park accessible to everyone for all eternity. Today, it stands as one of Australia's renowned national parks, safeguarding a majestic glacial terrain and the remarkable plant and animal life it harbours. The rugged outlines of Cradle Mountain encircle the frigid Dove Lake, creating a striking panorama that you can appreciate as you wander along the lake's shores. This dolerite summit stands out as one of the park's natural wonders, though the unpredictable weather of Tasmania's highlands frequently veils the mountain in mist.

When we arrive at Dove Lake we can then go for a short walk to the boat shed on the edge of the lake. This is a great photo opportunity looking across the lake to the famous Cradle Mt.
Enchanted Walk
  • 2h
Again travelling out of the park, but before we leave we will stop off and take another short walk along the enchanted walkway, here we hope to not only take in the Flora of the area but also follow Pencil Pine Creek and visit the water fall. Fingers crossed we may get to see wallabies or may be a wombat . At the end of this walk will make time to stop for lunch before returning to the visitor centre and the journey back to Devonport.
