Overview

The tour is named The Historical Compass (Brújula histórica) after the configuration of Oaxaca's city centre, full of churches located on the cardinal points, these are decisive places for the urban layout strictly connected to the city religious, political and mystical life over the centuries.

We will be visiting buildings, streets and neighbourhoods where celebrations, wars, encounters and fascinating mysterious events have taken place. Walking through places embedded with legends and anecdotes belonging to tradition and popular culture of the city history.

Digging into the city’s secrets we will focus also on relevant Oaxacan’s female characters and their actions as well as less known and less told stories from prehispanic and colonial periods.

By the end of the tour you will have mapped the city in a historical way, eaten an ice cream and learned some new ways to taste mezcal.
