Welcome to the ultimate food tour of Trinidad! This tour will take you on a culinary journey through some of the island's most vibrant and flavourful neighbourhoods, including Queen's Park Savannah, St. James, and Ariapita Avenue. Get ready to taste some of the island's most iconic dishes, meet friendly locals, and discover the unique blend of cultural influences that make Trinidad's food scene so special.
We stop at the Queen's Park Savannah, a beautiful park located in the heart of Port of Spain. Here you'll find a range of food options, including food trucks serving up classic street food like doubles, as well as local restaurants offering Trinidadian staples like bake and shark and curry. We'll start with doubles, a popular Trinidadian snack made with fried dough and filled with curried chickpeas, chutney, and hot pepper sauce. As we enjoy our doubles, we'll take in the beautiful natural surroundings of the park and get a sense of the laid-back, welcoming atmosphere that characterises Trinidad's food culture.
We then make a stop at the Lady Young Lookout for some jerk chicken while enjoying the scenic view of Port of Spain
Next, we'll head over to St. James, a vibrant neighbourhood known for its bustling streets and lively atmosphere. Here, we'll sample some of the best roti the island has to offer. As we savour the fresh, flavourful roti, we'll soak in the energy and excitement of St. James.
Our final stop on this food tour is Ariapita Avenue, one of the liveliest streets in Port of Spain and a hub of the city's culinary and bar scene. Here we'll explore the diverse range of food options available, including delicious ‘Trini’ gyro.
As we wind down our food tour, we'll reflect on the amazing culinary experiences we've had and the vibrant, welcoming culture that characterises Trinidad's food scene. With full bellies and an optional beer, we'll say goodbye to this beautiful island, feeling grateful for the memories and friendships we've made along the way.
