What you can expect
At the break of dawn, precisely at 5:00 AM, our chauffeur will be at your doorstep to embark on an enlightening journey. We'll set our course on a 4-hour drive to the sacred city of Haridwar, located 214 kilometres from Delhi. Nestled in the state of Uttarakhand in northern India, Haridwar, which translates to “the gate of God,” holds a revered place in Hinduism. For centuries, it has been a sanctum of mysticism and devotion, drawing Hindu pilgrims from across the globe. Haridwar's significance arises from its position on the banks of the holy Ganges River, where the river descends from the mountains into the plains of North India.
Haridwar's Notable Attractions:
Har-ki-Pauri: Known for the imprints of Lord Vishnu's feet, or 'Charan,' etched on the stone used in the construction of the upper wall of the dam, this is a sacred swimming spot. Here, the Ganga Aarti, a mesmerising ceremony where the golden hues of countless floating lamps reflect on the Ganges, takes place. It's a spiritual experience to witness the twilight aarti at this iconic ghat.
Mansa Devi Temple: This temple is dedicated to the goddess Mansa Devi, believed to fulfil the wishes of her devotees. It offers a panoramic view of Haridwar, forming the holy triangle with Chandi Devi Temple and Maya Devi Temple.
From Haridwar, our journey continues to the quaint town of Rishikesh, nestled in the state of Uttarakhand. Rishikesh, often referred to as the 'Yoga Capital of the World,' is a place of immense spiritual significance. It is known as the gateway to the Himalayas and the starting point for the Char Dham Yatra, a holy pilgrimage to four sacred shrines.
Key Attractions in Rishikesh:
Triveni Ghat: A significant swimming ghat along the Ganges, adorned with contemporary depictions of Hindu deities and a serene white sandy beach. It's a perfect spot for a purifying dip and witnessing the evening 'arati' ceremony with lanterns.
Lakshman Jhula: An iconic suspension bridge straddling the Ganges, steeped in history and mythology. Just about two kilometres upstream lies a historic footbridge named Lakshmanjhula, after Lord Rama's brother.
Swarg Ashram: This ashram, brimming with other ashrams, eateries, and shops, is a sought-after destination for those on a spiritual quest.
We conclude this spiritual sojourn with the customary Ganga Aarti, a spectacle that radiates profound beauty. Watch as the priests gracefully light lamps in a circular motion, accompanied by soulful chants, paying homage to Mother Ganga. Devotees place their hands over the flames, purifying themselves and seeking the blessings of the Goddess.
Upon your return to Delhi, expect to arrive at your residence around 10:00 PM, with a heart full of spiritual experiences and cherished memories.
