Itinerary
The tour starts with the pick up from the hotel or the bus terminal in Uyuni, if it is from the terminal we will take you to a cafe where you will have some free time for breakfast and at the indicated time we will pass by and then drive for an hour on the road towards the Uyuni salt flat, one of the most famous landscapes of Bolivia.
On the way, we will make a brief stop at the “train cemetery”, a large esplanade full of rusty locomotives where it seems that time has stopped.
We will stop in Colchani, the town located at the gates of the salt flat, where we will visit a salt processing plant, learn about the main properties of this product and see handicrafts made only of salt.
At noon, we will enter this salt flat, which has an area of more than 10,500 square kilometres, and we will see the Ojos de Sal, subway rivers that flow under the gigantic Uyuni salt flat. Did you know that it holds 60% of the world's lithium reserve? As we walk through it, we will see the salt extraction process and have an hour to enjoy a delicious local meal in this unique natural environment.
Once we have regained our strength, we will approach the first hotel that was built inside the salt flat. Afterwards, we will visit the Incahuasi Island, famous for its giant cactus, one of the most characteristic images of Uyuni! And you will have 40 minutes of free time to take all the pictures you want.
To put the finishing touch to our tour, when the last lights of the day leave the sky, we will enjoy the sunset reflected on the Uyuni salt flat, an image that will remain in your memory forever!
We will be back at the starting point around 7:00 pm.
