The Basilica of St. Francis is a sacred place par excellence and destination of Christian pilgrimage, visited by millions of tourists every year. Since 1230 it has preserved and guarded the mortal remains of the Saint, according to tradition it was Francis himself who chose the place of his burial, it is the place where the "lawless" were usually buried, condemned by justice. Francis was proclaimed a Saint at only two years of his death on July 16, 1228, and the next day, they laid the foundation stone for the construction of his imposing Basilica, a complex of immense artistic value, both for its architecture and for its precious frescoes and interior decoration. The Upper Basilica has a Gothic, bright and slender appearance, and the Lower Basilica is lower and more austere. The beating heart of the Basilicas would be the Crypt with the Tomb of St. Francis. Other places to visit are: the Basilica of Santa Chiara and the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli.

The Church of Santa Chiara is undoubtedly the second most visited building in Assisi after the Basilica of San Francesco, inside the Basilica is the body of Santa Chiara. Today we see two miracles of Saint Clare, the first done to her sister Agnes and the second, the miracle of bread, done to all the sisters of the community in San Damiano. The Basilica built with the typical white and pink stone of Mount Subasio rises on a large square, from which you can enjoy the view of the valley and the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli.
Chiara Scifi (16 July 1194 – 11 August 1253) was an Italian religious, collaborator of Francis of Assisi and founder of the order of Poor Clares: she was canonised as Saint Clare in 1255 by Alexander IV in the cathedral of Anagni.

Pozzo Etrusco

The Etruscan Well which is one of the most suggestive attractions. Located in Piazza Danti, this well dates back to the third or fourth century BC.C. and is a wonder of the architectural and engineering skills of this ancient people. With a depth of 37 metres and a diameter of 5, this colossal well features a decorated bridge that crosses its cavity. You can go down to the bottom of the well to get an idea of its proportions.

Palazzo dei Priori is a huge building located in front of the Cathedral of Perugia in Piazza IV Novembre. This ancient structure has been in the city centre since the 14th century and has played an important role in Perugia's politics. At the front of this structure there is a large semicircular staircase and a series of ornate three-light windows. The upper part of the palace is enriched by battlements that give it an almost fairytale appearance, like a castle. The palace is now the seat of the council and the town council, but also houses the National Gallery of Umbria, founded in 1878, which houses numerous works of art and is one of the most important museums in the region.
Cattedrale di San Lorenzo

The Cathedral of San Lorenzo is located in the heart of the historic centre of Perugia. Built three times in the 1300s and 1400s, externally it has a cladding, in local white and red stone, only along the lower band of the building, the rest of the decoration was never completed.
