Neckarwiese Heidelberg (Pass by)
Heidelberger Neckarwiese is a popular meeting point directly on the banks of the Neckar River and offers both locals and tourists a relaxed atmosphere with wonderful views of the castle and the old town. It is ideal for walks, picnics or simply relaxing in the countryside. Especially in summer, the extensive meadows invite you to sunbathe and linger. Families appreciate the playgrounds, and athletes use the area for jogging or volleyball. With its picturesque location and lively ambience, the Neckarwiese is a perfect place to enjoy Heidelberg.
Old Bridge (Karl Theodor Bridge)
  • 10m
The Old Bridge in Heidelberg, officially the Karl-Theodor-Brücke, is one of the most famous landmarks of the city. It connects the old town with the opposite bank of the Neckar River and offers breathtaking views of Heidelberg Castle and the surrounding hills. The imposing stone bridge dates back to the 18th century and features impressive arches and bridge figures, including the famous Bridge Monkey Monument, which fascinates visitors with its symbolism and history. A walk over the Old Bridge is a must for every Heidelberg visitor and offers wonderful photo motifs.
Altstadt (Old Town)
  • 20m
Heidelberg's old town is the heart of the city and delights with its historical charm. Narrow, cobbled streets, impressive Baroque buildings and a lively atmosphere make it a special attraction. There are numerous sights here, including the market square, the Holy Spirit Church and the town hall. The old town invites you to stroll, with many small shops, cafes and restaurants. The world-famous Heidelberg Castle, which can be easily reached by cable car, towers over everything. The Old Town is the perfect starting point to explore Heidelberg in all its glory.
Weststadt
  • 10m
Heidelberg’s western city is a charming residential district, best known for its magnificent Wilhelminian and Art Nouveau villas. Located west of the Old Town, it impresses with its quiet, green streets and elegant architecture. In the western city you can feel the relaxed lifestyle of the residents, while small boutiques, cafes and restaurants bring the area to life. The central Wilhelmsplatz is a popular meeting place where a weekly market is held regularly. The western city offers an ideal combination of historical flair and modern urban life, perfect for a walk off the beaten track.
Zollhofgarten
  • 15m
The railway city is Heidelberg's youngest and most modern district, which was built on the former freight yard site. It is a prime example of sustainable urban development and is one of the largest passive house settlements in the world. The architecture of the railway city is innovative and energy efficient, with modern residential buildings, office complexes and lots of green space. Families and young professionals in particular appreciate the district for its proximity to the main railway station and the wide range of leisure activities. Gadamerplatz forms the centre of the railway city and offers shopping facilities as well as restaurants and cafes. A highlight for nature lovers is the nearby park at the Altes Messplatz, which invites you for walks and relaxation.
