Malacca (Pass by)
Malacca City (also spelled Melaka) is the capital of the coastal state of Malacca, in southwestern Malaysia. According to the Malay Annals, Melaka was named after a tree. Parameswara, a prince from Palembang, was out hunting when he saw a pelanduk (mouse deer) kick one of his hound dogs. Astonished by the encounter, Parameswara thought that the land would be a great place as a new site for his Malay empire.
