Lake Mapourika is a kettle lake, that was formed about 14 000 years ago by the mighty Franz Josef Glacier.

Follow your guide to the secluded shoreline of the Okarito Kiwi Sanctuary, where you'll embark on an journey through our private rainforest trail. This trail is designed to take you on a journey through another time! You'll enjoy Jurassic rainforest, curious native birds and learn all about the rarest Kiwi birds on the planet - the Rowi.

We provide tea and coffee from a scenic lookout on the guided walk. We also provide FREE high quality digital photos taken by your guide on the tour.
