What you can expect

Your tour will begin with a pick up at your hotel by our local guide and transfer to Panajachel. Experience the life and traditions of the modern Maya by venturing to Santiago and Panajachel. Take a boat tour on Lake Atitlán and soak in spectacular views featuring the Toliman, San Pedro, and Atitlán volcanoes along the way.

Make your way to the Western Highlands region, known for its picturesque mountain villages and its vibrant collection of indigenous cultures. Reach Panajachel and embark on a relaxing cruise across the waters of Lake Atitlán, the deepest lake in all of Central America. As you cross, admire the stunning landscapes and snap photos of the volcanic slopes that surround this magnificent body of water.

Santiago is the most popular lakeside settlement outside Panajachel, and many atitecos (as its people are known) cling to a traditional Tz’utujil Mayan lifestyle. Women weave and wear huipiles (tunics) embroidered with brilliantly coloured birds and flowers, and the cofradías town’s maintain the ceremonies and rituals of tradition, the syncretic traditions and practices of Mayan Catholicism. There’s a large art and crafts scene here as well.

At the end of our walking through the town we will take a public boat to transfer back to Panajachel.

In Panajachel you will take a delicious lunch (NOT INCLUDED)

Explore the village of Panajachel is a pre-Columbian town of Kakchiquel origin, settled next to the river with the same name and on the lakeside of Atitlán.

At the end, you’ll be returned to Antigua Guatemala.
