Activity itinerary

Wat Xiengthong
  • 40m
  • Admission ticket included
Wat Xiengthong is one of Laos' most beautiful and historically important temples. Built in the 16th century, its architecture features gold-leaf murals, sweeping rooflines, and quiet courtyards. A symbol of Lao spirituality and culture, its rich history, artistic heritage, and importance as the ceremonial gateway to the town make it a must-see on any visit to Luang Prabang.
Old Quarter Luang Prabang
  • 50m
2. Old Quarter with morning market Founded in 1353 as the capital of the Lan Xang kingdom, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Quarter is a charming, walkable 1.5-square mile (4 km) town with leafy streets lined by a mix of French colonial buildings, traditional Lao-style temples, shops and local markets. The stories told by your guide as you stroll along will take you back to a bygone era and bring the history of this ancient city to life.
Wat Sensoukharam
  • 30m
Wat Sensoukharam is a great example of Lao Buddhist architecture and a symbol of the city’s deep connection to Theravada Buddhism. Built in the 18th century and dedicated to the practice of meditation, it’s often referred to as the "Temple of 100,000 Treasures" due to the many sacred relics it contains. Today, its serene courtyards, golden facade and intricate carvings maintain religious and cultural significance as a place of worship and ordination for local Buddhist monks.
Royal Palace Museum
  • 40m
  • Admission ticket included
The Royal Palace Museum (or Haw Kham) built in 1904 was once the residence of the Lao royal family. The building combines traditional Lao and French colonial architectural styles, with lovely gardens and intricate structural and decorative details reflecting the grandeur of Laos’ royal past. Today, it offers a fascinating glimpse into the life of the former monarchy, with throne room, royal reception hall and exhibits of personal artefacts once owned by the royal family.
Wat Wisunalat
  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
This beautiful temple is a late-1800s reconstruction of a much older temple dating back to 1513. Known for its unusual architecture, the wat is still actively used as a place of worship. If you wish, you can place your name on the board to request a blessing from the monks who live here.
Mount Phousi
  • 45m
  • Admission ticket included
Rising nearly 500 feet (150 m) high, Mount Phousi is an iconic landmark of Luang Prabang. Located in the southwest end of the old city, it offers great views of the old city, the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers and surrounding mountains. The winding stairway is dotted with small shrines, Buddha statues, and religious offerings. At the top, Wat Chom Si stupa built by King Anourouth in 1804 is believed to enshrine sacred Buddhist relics.
Mekong River Cruises
  • 1h 30m
  • Admission ticket not included
After your climb, relax on a cruise aboard a traditional Mekong river boat. As the late afternoon sun sinks below the mountains, the river takes on beautiful pink and purple hues to make for a magical experience. If you choose, enjoy a drink and light refreshments while aboard. Note: The $27 cruise ticket, and the cost of food and drink are not included in the tour price. If you opt out of the cruise, you may buy and enjoy a selection of food and drinks by the riverside while you wait.
Luang Prabang Night Market
  • 1h
The Luang Prabang Night Market offers an immersive cultural experience where you can bargain hunt, connect with the local people, try traditional street food, and enjoy the lively ambiance of the town. It’s also a great place to shop for locally made goods, including beautifully woven textiles, jewellery, hand-carved wooden bowls, foldable paper lanterns, souvenirs and all things Lao!
