Head out for a day of discovery at Marine World, a private park on the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef. Explore the incredible coral ecosystem with your choice of a variety of activities, including snorkelling, glass-bottom boat tours, and either an introductory or a certified dive.

Cruise from the Cairns Marina in a catamaran to the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef. At the Marine World pontoon, a day of adventure awaits you. A variety of activities are available, letting you choose the ones that interest you most.

Take a semi-submersible tour among sea turtles and jellyfish, or step onto a glass-bottomed boat to survey the colourful coral depths. On board the pontoon, you can join a marine biologist to feed the fish, visit the underwater observatory, or grab snorkelling gear to explore the crystal-clear waters.

Your day also features your choice of 1 or 2 dives at private sites only accessible to Marine World visitors. Beginners can experience scuba diving for the first time with an introductory dive that doesn’t require previous experience, while certified divers can head out with a professional guide for more advanced dives.

Introductory Dive Your experienced instructors brief you on your equipment and lead you into a sheltered pool to teach you the basics. With no more than 4 divers per instructor, you get the one-on-one coaching you need to feel safe in the water.

Next, make your first dive of up to 33 feet (10 m) in a shallow lagoon. Find yourself surrounded by colourful coral and fish, and perhaps even meet Wally, the resident giant Maori wrasse. If you’ve opted for a second dive, you can practise your new skills at another stunning location.

Certified Dive Depending on weather conditions and your experience level, your guide chooses from a selection of drift, wall, and channel dives, leading you to incredible spots with swim-throughs, sea caves, ledges, and drop-offs to explore. You’re transferred directly to the sites, giving you more time to take in the beauty of your surroundings.
