What you can expect

There is a lot to discover in Münster, the city of the Peace of Westphalia, a town old enough to reach the age of 1200 years. Whether as a bishop's seat, a member of the Hanseatic League or a university city – Münster has always played an important role in Europe. As you stroll through the city wondering and exploring this vibrant 280.000 inhabitants town, you will find out that it is a residence for a university. Its history vibrates through its architecture, Münster is a town known for being a city of bicycles, having about 500 thousand of them circling in a place with only 300 thousand inhabitants. It is a standard bearer for the green cities of the future, for both Germany and abroad. Münster is also known for the Pablo Picasso Museum, the only one in Germany dedicated to the artist. No visit would be completed without heading to St Paulus Dom, a 13th-century cathedral in the centre of town surrounded by the streets of Prinzipal Market. It is a piece of living history, telling tales from the Middle Ages, the Hanseatic League, and the ancient merchant families that still pursue their businesses today. Of particular note is the astronomical clock, a gem of the late Middle Ages. On this tour, you will discover the highlights of this cosmopolitan, youthful city, explore the outside of the Historical Town Hall and stroll the streets of the Old Town.
