Overview

We will take you to the place where the world record for the biggest-ever surfed wave was broken- several times! It's a Meca for adventurous surfers all around the world. You will visit the Surf Museum, at the São Miguel de Arcanjo Fort, the Nazaré Sanctuary, and the Memory Chapel, and will be able to have a breathtaking views. With a mannerist style, the São Miguel Arcanjo Fort began to be built in 1577 by D. Sebastião. In 1644, King D. João IV, the Restorer, ordered its remodeling and enlargement. With a privileged location, near the Nazaré promontory, it is currently considered the main observation post of the giant waves at Praia do Norte, which turned Nazaré into a world surf reference.
