Ribeira (Pass by)

We start our drive along Porto's river coast, passing through Ribeira, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the oldest and most charming areas of the city, Ribeira is filled with narrow streets, colourful buildings, and the iconic Douro River, offering a glimpse into Porto's rich history and vibrant atmosphere.

Fortress Sao Joao Baptista (Pass by)

This 16th-century coastal fortress defended Porto from maritime invasions. It's a historical landmark where visitors can observe the meeting of the Douro River and the ocean.

Matosinhos (Pass by)

Matosinhos is celebrated for fresh seafood restaurants and vibrant maritime culture. We will pass in front on the famous Cheese Castle, fort from the 17th century, built to defend the Portuguese coastline.

Farol de Leca (Pass by)

Built in 1926, standing 52 metres high, this lighthouse offers spectacular Atlantic views and is a vital navigational marker at Porto’s entrance.

Praia Da Memoria (Pass by)

Named for the obelisk commemorating the landing of D. Pedro IV in 1832 during the Portuguese Civil War. This monument celebrates the liberal victory, making the beach a place of historical significance.

Arrival at Mindelo Ornithological Reserve. Participants will be warmly welcomed upon arrival at the reserve. A brief introduction will provide insight into the local bird species and the significance of the ecosystem to the region’s biodiversity. Enjoy dedicated birdwatching time with the guide, who will assist in identifying species and sharing fascinating details about their habits and habitats. Accessible Nature Walks Take a leisurely walk along flat, easy-to-navigate trails. Along the way, stop to immerse yourself in the sounds of birdsong and learn about the diverse local flora, offering a deeper connection to the natural surroundings.

Vila do Conde

Afterwards, we’ll drive to Vila do Conde, a charming maritime city steeped in history and tradition. Here, participants will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, savouring authentic regional cuisine. There will also be free time to relax, socialise, and share experiences with fellow participants, making the day even more memorable.
