At the second stop, you will visit the Usuonu washhouse: This washhouse, which had cost 3,000 lire, was called ‘funtana de usu onu’ (‘fountain for good use’), giving rise to the name ‘Lavatoio di Usuonu’ for the surrounding area. Its elegant structure, characterised by three round arches, housed tubs in which women washed their laundry using a natural lye obtained from ash.
