What you can expect

Experience the very best of Polynesian culture, mingle with the locals, and get immersed into the island life. Featuring 6 different villages and a plethora of activities and events, the Polynesian Cultural Centre shows you the unique and varied traditions of the Polynesian people.

Stroll through real-life living quarters from Samoa, all built without nails. See well-muscled natives climb 40-foot coconut trees so you can craft your own coconut milk. Natives of Aotearoa reveal the ancient origins and meanings of unique facial tattoos, verbally and visually walking you through the symbolic meaning behind the markings.

The natives of Fiji demonstrate cultural clashes featuring a varied collection of weaponry used by warriors. From here, follow the beat of the drum to Tonga. With some luck, you'll be able to demonstrate your own sense of rhythm on the oversized native drums. Pick up a throwing spear and test your accuracy.

Learn to move to the Tahitian drums with some tips from the very talented dancers. Gain insights into the ancient kapu – the taboo system of Hawaii that separated men and women in different homes. Taste poi, the mouth-watering stable food, and learn the craft of the Hawaiian lei.

Finish off your day with the grand show Ha: Breath of Life, a symbolic storey of man and women and a journey through Polynesia with a blazing fire finale.
