Leaving the city of Porto, or your accommodation, we will drive along the riverside area of the beautiful city of Porto with the possibility of stopping to take some photos, passing through the city of Matosinhos with one of the most beautiful beaches in Porto, heading to a fishing village with traces of the Roman occupation in the Iberian Peninsula where we can see how fishing is still carried out as if it were the last century, we will also visit the fish and seafood market where the best restaurants in Porto stock up on fresh fish and seafood. Then a visit to a unique place where we can enjoy Castro de S. Paio beach. Geomorphology, archaeology and landscape make this site a place of distinction where the Chapel of S. Paio and a hillfort are located, a small Iron Age settlement that, in its surroundings, presents traces attributed to the Palaeolithic period.
Fortified village from the first millennium BC that corresponded to a settlement of people from the Northwest Peninsular that the Romans called Calaicos. A jewel of national archaeology, the Castro de S. Paio is the only example of a castro, in national territory, in which the sea touches the defences. A town of fishermen and probably salt producers, S. Paio was abandoned with the arrival of the Romans around 20 BC. This route will be carried out in an all-terrain vehicle with all comfort and safety.
