The Trail of Lemons is an evocative hiking trail that winds through terraced lemon groves on the Amalfi Coast, offering a unique experience amid citrus scents and breathtaking views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The trail starts from the Collegiata Church in Maiori. Along the way, you will find yourself walking through lush lemon terraces. The Amalfi Coast is famous for the cultivation of loose lemons, known as “sfusato amalfitano,” a prized and aromatic variety that grows beautifully on the region's slopes.
The Lemon Trail offers spectacular panoramic views of the coast and the Tyrrhenian Sea. You'll enjoy sheer cliffs, hillside villages and, in the distance, the blue sea.
Along the trail, you will encounter old farm buildings and quaint cottages, often used for harvesting and processing lemons. These buildings help create an authentic and historic atmosphere along the trail. Arriving in the valley of Minori we will ascend through the ancient Cartiere (paper mills), skirting its streams, towards the hamlet of Sambuco to reach the spectacular Ravello with its terraces overlooking the sea.
One of the distinctive features of the Lemon Trail is the enveloping fragrance of citrus fruits. The air will be imbued with the fresh scent of lemons, creating a unique sensory experience during the hike.
The route may vary in difficulty and duration, depending on your preferences. Some sections may be flat and easily accessible, while others may require physical endurance.
Regardless of the destination, you will be rewarded with spectacular views and the satisfaction of having traversed one of the most distinctive trails on the Amalfi Coast.
The hike along the Lemon Trail is a unique opportunity to explore the agricultural and scenic beauty of the Amalfi Coast while immersing yourself in the citrus culture that characterises this region.
