Activity itinerary

Borgarnes (Pass by)
Borgarnes is a town of fewer than 2,000 people, located on a peninsula at the shore of Borgarfjordur and steeped in culture and history. The town of Borgarnes is a historical settlement that serves as a cultural hub and an essential commerce centre for a large part of West Iceland. This town, though small, has deep roots in Iceland's Viking history.
Ytri Tunga Beach
  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
Ytri Tunga is a beach by a farm of the same name on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Unlike many of the beaches in Iceland, Ytri Tunga has golden sand, rather than black.
Budakirkja
  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
he Búðakirkja Church is a small wooden church erected on the southern shore of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula – where road 54 turns from the sea towards the mountains. It sits as a strong colour contrast against the backdrop of the Snæfellsjökull glacier, highlighted by its colour on its white vestry, and this makes it the most photographed church in Iceland.
Arnarstapi
  • 30m
Arnarstapi is a village on the southern side of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, once a fishing hub and now a place for travellers to refuel before entering Snæfellsjökull National Park. The area has several old and charming houses with interesting stories to them and is renowned for its beautiful nature.
Londrangar Basalt Cliffs
  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
The Lóndrangar basalt cliffs are amongst the many geological wonders of the Snæfellnes peninsula.
Saxholl Crater
  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
Saxhóll Crater is located in the Snaefellsjokull National Park. It´s easy to climb and the view from the top is spectacular. A low-set metal stair follows the path´s course to the top. The stair is made up of modules three metres long and 1,5 metres wide that hold seven treads each between solid stingers with open risers. The units join together like a necklace on the slope. The stairs were awarded Rosa Barba International Landscape Prize 2018 which are the fourth awards the project achieves since 2017.
Djupalonssandur Beach
  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
Djúpalónssandur or the Black Lava Pearl Beach is a beautiful place to visit, like so many other of the many sights on the Snæfellsnes peninsula. It is like stepping into a lava wonderland. I have written a travel-guide in chronological order in 5-parts about the Snæfellsnes peninsula. But since Djúpalónssandur is one of the major attractions on the peninsula I thought it deserved a special travel-blog.
Kirkjufellsfoss
  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
The name of the river is Kirkjufellsá river, which runs from a volcano called Helgrindur. There are 3 waterfalls in this river, all of which have the same name, Kirkjufellsfoss waterfall.
Kirkjufell Mountain
  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
Kirkjufell, or 'Church Mountain', is a distinctly shaped peak found on the north shore of Iceland’s Snæfellsnes Peninsula, only a short distance away from the town of Grundarfjörður. It is often called ‘the most photographed mountain in Iceland’ due to its dramatic formation and perfect coastal location.
