What you can expect

Arrive at the station via car or public transport and prepare to travel on a historic locomotive through the scenic Dandenong Ranges.

Built in 1900 and recognised as one of the finest preserved steam railways in the world, Puffing Billy continues to travel on its original mountain track between Belgrave and Gembrook, Puffing Billy offers traditional train journeys, first-class wine and dine experiences and so much more to explore off the tracks.

Discover the new state-of-the-art facility set in the scenic surrounds of Emerald Lake Park. The new Lakeside Visitor Centre enhances the Puffing Billy experience, featuring a café, function room, significantly upgraded facilities, extensive retail, dining options, and interpretation spaces for you to enjoy.

It was absolutely terrific to see the landscapes of Melbourne with Puffing Billy! And waving to every person on the Side Road was even better 😍 If you’re in Melbourne, you have to do this! A must do and a wonderful experience. Lakeside itself is also mesmerizing and has a small swimming area (NOT in the lake itself though).

The trip on puffing Billy was amazing, the stay at lakeside was too long of a wait. It felt like everyone was just hoovering around to get back on the train after waiting almost 2hours to get back on board

My journey on the Puffing Billy Railway was truly unforgettable. Well unfortunately nothing to enjoy. The ride was cancelled because the locomotive wouldn’t start, so after waiting standing up for an hour we were told that we wouldn’t go anywhere today! Very disappointing
