Overview

Putrajaya as Malaysia’s administrative capital, Putrajaya has positioned itself as a tourist destination with its captivating architecture and picturesque landscapes.

Putrajaya is a city in Malaysia, south of Kuala Lumpur. It’s known for its late-20th-century architecture including the Putra Mosque, made from rose-colored granite with a pink dome. Nearby is the immense, green-domed Perdana Putra, which contains the prime minister’s office complex. The 3-tiered Putra Bridge is inspired by Iranian architecture, with 4 minaret-type piers overlooking the man-made Putrajaya Lake.

Activity itinerary

Seri Wawasan Bridge, Putrajaya
  • 15m
The first stop is one of seven bridges in Putrajaya, which is the most elegant. The 240m cable bridge features a futuristic design borrowing the shape of a sailing ship. The Seri Wawasan Bridge is visible from many vantage points of the city.
Putrajaya Lake (Pass by)
The Putrajaya Lake is a lake located at the centre of Putrajaya, Malaysia. This 650 hectares man-made lake is designed to act as a natural cooling system for the city and also for recreation, fishing, water sports and water transport.
Putra Mosque
  • 15m
Rose-tinted granite gives the Putra Mosque its iconic pink hue, an elegance that reflects as remarkably on the inside as it does on the outside. Built by the lake in 1997, the mosque can accommodate up to 15,000 worshippers. Visitors would stop by for photographs with this sophisticated landmark, which drew inspiration from Malay and Middle Eastern influences.
Perdana Putra
  • 15m
This imposing building stands atop the main hill in Putrajaya, catching eyes with its palatial-style green dome and stone walls. Featuring a blend of Islamic and modern architecture, the office complex is where ministers and higher officials work. It is not open to visitors, but you can still admire its grandeur from the outside.
Kelab Tasik Putrajaya
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket not included
One of the best ways to see the city's sights is by taking a 45 minute daytime or evening sightseeing cruise on a comfortable air-conditioned 76 seater cruise boat. Gondola-style boat rides are also available.
Seri Perdana (Pass by)
Seri Perdana is the official residence of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, located in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin (Masjid Besi)
  • 15m
The Iron Mosque (or Tunku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque) is another architectural wonder worth checking out. Constructed primarily from steel, “wire mesh” architecture draws inspiration from Chinese and German designs. Unlike other mosques in Malaysia, there is no minaret which is used to call for prayers. From afar, it looks like it is made of metal or glass.
Millennium Monument
  • 15m
Designed in 2005 to usher in the new millennium, this is the first monument to be built in Putrajaya. The walkway twirling around the monument illustrates the history of Malaysia, the panels describing significant events in the country. There is a time capsule at the base of the monument which will be opened in 2020. As you move up along the ramps of the Millennium Monument, you can see sweeping views of the waterfront.
172, Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (Pass by)
Istana Melawati is the second national palace of Malaysia's Yang di-Pertuan Agong in Putrajaya after the Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur. It serves as a royal retreat for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Moroccan Pavilion Putrajaya
  • 15m
The Moroccan Pavilion deserves five stars for Instaworthiness, if such a rating exists. Built to symbolise the diplomatic ties between the two governments, the stunning architecture and delicate craftsmanship bear resemblance to the villages and imperial cities of Morocco.

Fabulous trip not too far from City centre. Lovely buildings. No shelter in this area so if sunny, sunscreen needed. To go inside pink mosque ladies must cover all areas of flesh and hair. Gowns are provided free if dress not appropriate.

Driver arrived 45 minutes late. On the positive. He’s a very friendly person but isn’t a qualified tour guide and it became clear he knew very little about the various sites. Essentially this “tour” was a hired car taking me from one location to another. Oh well, when you get lemons make lemonade.

Half day is enough for this tour. The lake cruise is a must as it gives beautiful views of the city. Visiting mosque was interesting, especially "dress up" part. Beware of the long queues to buy the cruise ticket. i had to wait 1 hour 15 min till the next one, 45 minutes spent in a queue.

despite the severe thunderstorm we encountered, our driver managed to continue the tour. We thought we would have a guide but only a driver who gave us information about the sites. Good tour if you are new to malaysia and want to see some landmarks
